The whole family of a teacher died unjustly because of a "water bomb" that exploded on the hill.
Water and rocks from a water bomb on a hillside about 50m high collapsed and buried 4 people in the family of a kindergarten teacher in Nha Trang City, Khanh Hoa. A project here is designing an infinity pool right at the edge of the hillside.
The area where the heartbreaking incident occurred on November 18 is located in the Hoang Phu luxury housing project, Vinh Hoa ward (Nha Trang city). On the morning of November 20, the investor assigned security guards to be on duty at the scene.
Water and rocks poured down from a height of about 50 meters above the residential area below. Here, the investor dug up an area of land about 10 meters wide, more than 30 meters long, and nearly 2 meters deep.
According to the project perspective announced by the investor, at this location, an infinity pool will be designed right at the edge of the hillside.
Mr. Ngo Van Ung (born 1978), one of the people whose house collapsed, said that the investor had only been digging here for about half a month.

According to Mr. Ung, on the morning of November 18, he saw a stream of black water flowing down from the hillside. Going up, he saw a lake on the edge of the hillside at the above location. At this time, the water had overflowed the banks...
"I quickly ran down to call everyone and pulled my wife and children out of the house. At that moment, we heard a loud explosion like a bomb, and in a moment, water and rocks came crashing down," Mr. Ung said.
Teacher Nguyen Thi Thuy’s family was unable to escape and was buried under the rocks and soil. Authorities found the bodies of her two children, and in the afternoon her husband’s body was also found. Ms. Thuy was rushed to the hospital but did not survive.
Yesterday morning, local authorities and the Department of Construction worked with the investor to handle the incident.

Speaking with VietNamNet, Chairman of Vinh Hoa Ward People's Committee Tran Van Dong said that after the incident of water and rocks collapsing 10 houses in Group 1 Hoa Tay, he went to check and saw traces of an artificial lake breaking down into the residential area. “We also do not know about this lake because we do not have the project design documents. The unit built it but did not report to the local authorities to warn the people,” Mr. Dong said. |
