The Ministry of Health confirmed at noon on March 10 that a 24-year-old female patient, who returned to Vietnam from the UK on a chartered plane, tested positive for nCoV.

"Patient 32" is a Vietnamese living in London who met "patient 17" in England.

On the evening of February 27, the patient attended a party and went out with "patient 17" and a group of friends.

Four days later, the patient developed a dry cough without fever and went to a hospital in London for examination and was treated as an outpatient.

On March 7, the patient had a bad cough and no fever. After hearing that "patient 17" had developed the disease in Vietnam, he returned for a check-up and clearly stated his contact history. The hospital in London requested home isolation and no testing.

The patient was flown from the UK to Vietnam by his family, with an isolation room on board, arriving at Tan Son Nhat Airport on the morning of March 9. The Ho Chi Minh City health sector received him and took him to the Cu Chi Field Hospital for isolation and testing at the Pasteur Institute in Ho Chi Minh City. The results confirmed that the patient was positive for nCoV.

The patient is currently isolated and treated at the Hospital for Tropical Diseases in Ho Chi Minh City. The patient is conscious, has stable vital signs, fever, dry cough, slightly red throat, breathing smoothly and spontaneously.

"Patient 17" lives in Hanoi and traveled to England, Italy, and France in mid-February. After experiencing symptoms of cough and body aches, she returned on flight VN0054. "Patient 17" then transmitted the disease to two people in close contact, her aunt and her personal driver.

On flight VN0054, there were 11 other people confirmed to be infected with nCoV, including "patient 21" and 10 tourists. Patients from this flight spread to many provinces and cities in Vietnam, coming into contact with hundreds of other people.

To date, Vietnam has recorded 32 cases of nCoV infection, including 16 new cases and 16 recovered cases.
