On the afternoon of November 18, Mr. Tran Dac Phu - Director of the Department of Preventive Medicine said that up to now, 53 provinces and cities nationwide have re-deployed Quinvaxem vaccine.

From now until the end of November, the remaining localities will resume Quinvaxem vaccination. According to Mr. Phu, the recent post-vaccination reactions include mild fever, pain, swelling or redness at the injection site and general discomfort...

These are mild, common reactions in children and most of these reactions resolve on their own. According to the World Health Organization, the purpose of vaccination is to create active immunity to prevent disease. Local reactions, fever and other symptoms are part of the immune response.

According to information from the National Institute of Hygiene and Epidemiology, in Hanoi, after the vaccination campaign started on November 4, 113 cases of post-vaccination reactions were recorded. Thus, the number of post-vaccination reactions at the rate of (2.4/1,000 injections), of which the total number of cases requiring hospitalization for treatment and monitoring was 37.

Analyzing the issue of post-vaccination reactions, Professor Nguyen Tran Hien, Director of the Central Institute of Hygiene and Epidemiology, said that common reactions in the group of children with post-vaccination complications were fever, fussiness, rash all over the body, decreased muscle tone, swelling and pain at the injection site, and some children even turned purple. Currently, all children's health is stable and they have been discharged from the hospital.

According to Mr. Hien, in order to evaluate the reactions in children after vaccination, the Ministry of Health has asked Hanoi to closely monitor 100% of vaccinated children to make an objective assessment of common reactions. Accordingly, most of the symptoms of post-vaccination reactions are mild and within normal limits.

On the evening of November 18, according to statistics from the Hanoi Center for Preventive Medicine, 28 districts in the city have completed the Quinvaxem vaccination with about 46,800 children vaccinated in this phase. It is expected that on November 22, the last unit, Thanh Xuan district, will resume the Quinvaxem vaccination.
