“Since 2 days ago, when the tide receded, all the main drainage sluices such as Ben Thuy, Nghi Quang, Dien Thanh, Hung Loi... have been operating according to the principle of clearing the tide to drain the floodwaters. However, since October 29, because the water level in the fields has been higher than the water level in the river, the drainage gates have had to be closed,” said Mr. Nguyen Hong Thuong, Deputy Head of the Irrigation Sub-Department.
Some pumping stations in Vinh city were previously only partially operating, such as Ben Thuy station with only 3/6 machines operating, Cau Den pumping station and Tay Nam pumping station with only 4/6 machines, but after the drainage culverts had to close, they operated at full capacity to increase drainage capacity, but still only met part of the demand.
