The most important talks on Ukraine will take place next week

According to RIA Novosti on November 16, Polish Foreign Minister Radoslaw Sikorski said that “the most important negotiations on Ukraine” will take place next week.

“It is in Warsaw that the most important negotiations on the conflict in Ukraine will be held. Next week I will hold a meeting in the format of the “Weimar Triangle plus” - Polish Foreign Minister Sikorski told reporters, commenting on the phone call between Russian President Vladimir Putin and German Chancellor Olaf Scholz.

Mr. Sikorski clarified that, besides the foreign ministers of France and Germany, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrei Sibiga and the new High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Kaya Kallas will also arrive in Warsaw next week.

Russian President Vladimir Putin on November 15 had a phone conversation with German Chancellor Olaf Scholz for the first time since December 2022. The Kremlin press service reported that the conversation took place at the initiative of the German side.

German government spokesman Steffen Hebestreit confirmed to reporters that the conversation took place and lasted nearly an hour.

According to Hebestreit, the German Chancellor "stressed the need for Russia to be ready to negotiate with Ukraine to achieve a just and lasting peace." Mr. Scholz also spoke of Berlin's "unwavering determination" to support Kiev "for as long as necessary." In addition, Chancellor Scholz also called on President Putin to end the conflict and "withdraw troops."

The two leaders agreed to maintain contact, TASS news agency learned. Before the phone call, the German Chancellor also contacted the Ukrainian President and planned to talk to him again after the conversation with President Putin.
