Provincial delegates visit Thang Long Imperial Citadel and Museum of Ethnology
(Baonghean.vn) -On May 18, after visiting the K9 historical site (Ba Vi - Hanoi), the Provincial Party Committee organized for typical advanced delegates to "study and follow the moral example of Ho Chi Minh" to visit the Thang Long Imperial Citadel and the Museum of Ethnology.
The archaeological site at 18 Hoang Dieu, the relics of Thang Long Forbidden City and the ceramic artifacts, ancient coins, etc. are interconnected, forming a rich and attractive whole. The artifacts reflect the relationship of urban planning and architectural space with continuity between dynasties in the history of building Thang Long capital. This area was recognized as a world cultural heritage by UNESCO through a Resolution (July 31, 2010).
In the heart of the world heritage site of Thang Long Imperial Citadel, there is the working area of the Politburo and the Central Military Commission during the years of fighting against the US. Underneath the Imperial Citadel is the D67 underground bunker. Built from 1965-1966, the D67 bunker is spacious, fully equipped and modern. This bunker played an extremely important role in the long resistance war. The bunker has a semi-submerged structure made of monolithic concrete, with three roof layers, including two concrete layers and a sand layer in the middle that can withstand bombs and missiles. The bunker's interior is relatively modern, synchronized with a system of maps, communications, sirens, and loudspeakers to announce enemy aircraft.
The delegates also visited the Museum of Ethnology, which preserves the cultural values of the Vietnamese ethnic groups. It preserves over 15,000 artifacts, 42,000 films, photos, interviews, and music of 54 ethnic groups and the Vietnamese community.
