This morning (December 8), in Hanoi, the Office of the Central Steering Committee for Flood and Storm Prevention held a meeting to update developments and response measures for storm Hagupit.

According to forecasts, at around 4am tomorrow (November 9), storm Hagupit will move into the East Sea, becoming the fifth storm that Vietnam has encountered this year. The current focus is for localities to continue to focus on calling on ships operating in the 10th to 17th latitude to move west of the 115th meridian towards the Vietnamese mainland.

As of this morning, the border guards of coastal provinces and cities from Da Nang to Kien Giang, in coordination with localities, families of ship owners and captains, have announced and counted 41,207 vehicles, with more than 173,000 people aware of the storm's developments to proactively avoid it. Currently, the area in the middle and south of the East Sea, including the Truong Sa archipelago, still has 300 vehicles and about 4,000 people operating at sea.
