One of the key contents of the "Earth Hour 2012" campaign is to mobilize Vietnamese youth.Male join together, save energy and protect the environment. To carry out this task, since the beginning of March, the ambassadors of “Earth Hour 2012” including Miss Friendly Duong Thuy Linh, singer Thanh Lam and singer Tung Duong have had a series of exchanges with nearly 1,000 students at 7 universities in Hanoi.
The Ambassadors interacted with students, discussed the causes and consequences of climate change, and shared solutions to save electricity and protect the environment. Speaking at the exchange with FPT University students, Ambassador Duong Thuy Linh shared: Let's fight climate change and protect the environment with practical actions such as turning off unnecessary lights and electrical equipment, prioritizing the use of products made from recycled materials, donating old items that are still good instead of turning them into waste, limiting travel by personal vehicles, prioritizing the use of energy-saving and environmentally friendly equipment.
Ambassador Tung Duong called on students of Hanoi University of Civil Engineering to do small things like turning off unnecessary lights, riding bicycles instead of relying too much on motorbikes and cars, limiting the use of plastic bags and straws... These actions not only help protect the earth, but also save money for each individual, family and business. For Ambassador Thanh Lam, the singer's sharing with students of the National Economics University is also quite simple: Do what you can, each simple action of ours will make a difference together; start by doing it with your family, and imagine what we can change with the consensus of each school, each city, each country.
What is really encouraging is that the students have all participated enthusiastically in the program and students from all 7 schools have made commitments to save electricity and protect the environment, responding to their own "Earth Hour 2012". At FPT University, students said they had written an electricity saving software for personal computers to contribute to greening the environment and committed to widely applying this software. At the Academy of Journalism and Communication, the commitment was very practical: All electrical equipment in the lecture halls will be turned off immediately after class ends. Students from the University of Construction committed to reusing drawing and printing paper, using energy-saving light bulbs, and reminding those around them to do the same... And especially, all students committed to participating in "Earth Hour 2012".
In the coming time, the ambassadors will continue to come and exchange with students from the region.
