On the afternoon of September 7, Xiao Tian, deputy head of the Chinese delegation to the six-party talks, met with his South Korean counterpart Kim Gunn in Seoul and met with Hwang Joon Kook, head of the South Korean delegation to the six-party talks. South Korea's chief negotiator Hwang Joon Kook will then travel to Washington to meet his US counterpart Sung Kim to discuss Pyongyang's nuclear, missile and human rights issues.
In addition, the Korean government is also preparing to promote the organization of a Foreign Ministers' Conference and a meeting of the heads of nuclear negotiation delegations of the three countries of Korea, the US and Japan on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly session taking place at the end of September.
Analysts believe that the above moves by the parties involved are aimed at preventing Pyongyang from launching long-range missiles before or after the 70th anniversary of the founding of the Korean Workers' Party on October 10.
