Among the above countries, Lebanon is said to be the most affected by the conflicts in Syria and Iraq.
Lebanese media on December 22 quoted Social Affairs Minister Rashid Derbas as saying that the country's economy has suffered more than 20 billion USD in losses, while per capita income has decreased by 11% since the conflict broke out in Syria in 2011.
According to Mr. Rashid Derbas, the appearance of 1.1 million Syrian refugees in the country has forced the government to change its plans for infrastructure investment as well as paying for the refugees' arising needs.
According to estimates by the Central Bank of Lebanon, with Syrian refugees accounting for 25% of the country's population, Lebanon will have to spend an additional 4.5 billion USD each year.
Meanwhile, a WB study confirmed that the Lebanese economy will suffer direct losses of about $1 billion and indirect losses of $3.5 billion per year.
