NGOs support Vietnam in mine clearance
According to the latest data, Vietnam still has about 6.5 million hectares of land contaminated with bombs, mines, and explosives from the war.
On the afternoon of November 28, within the framework of the 3rd International Conference on Cooperation between Vietnam and Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs), a workshop on overcoming the consequences of bombs, mines and unexploded ordnance took place.
To clear these bombs and mines, Vietnam needs 185,000 billion VND. In the past, there have been 33 international non-governmental organizations providing humanitarian support related to resolving the consequences of war in Vietnam.

However, up to now, these organizations have mainly exploited programs and projects related to awareness education, support for mine victims and other related activities, while resources for mine clearance tasks have not yet met the demand.
At the workshop, opinions focused on strengthening coordination between foreign non-governmental organizations and Vietnamese non-governmental organizations and authorities at all levels in mine clearance work; the allocation and use of support funds must ensure the urgency and needs of localities; and increasing calls for cooperation and support from foreign organizations and individuals to participate in post-war mine clearance work.
Representatives of foreign non-governmental organizations suggested that in the coming time, it is necessary to promote coordination, establish relationships; and increase activities to improve people's capacity and understanding of this issue./.
