(Baonghean.vn) - Admissions to primary schools must ensure the implementation of the task of universalizing education in the area, ensure the scale of schools and classes, and ensure the right subjects.

Complete primary school enrollment before August 15

Starting from the beginning of August, many schools in Vinh city and many other localities across the province will conduct enrollment for first and sixth graders.

In Dien Chau district, enrollment began on August 1, in the form of selection. Accordingly, the age of first graders is 6 years old (born in 2017). Disabled children, children with physical and mental disabilities, children from ethnic minorities, orphans without support, children returning from abroad... can enter first grade at an older age than the prescribed age but not more than 3 years old. If the age is exceeded, the Department of Education and Training will decide.

According to the instructions, students in any locality will be enrolled according to the list at their place of residence. In case of homeless students or students who follow their parents from other localities to the place of residence in the enrollment area without proper documents, the schools will consider reporting to the Department of Education and Training to ensure the rights of students. For 6th grade students, the subjects of enrollment are students who have completed primary school and are of the appropriate age as prescribed in Article 33, the Charter of junior high schools, high schools and multi-level general schools issued with Circular No. 32/2020/TT-BGDDT dated September 15, 2020 of the Ministry of Education and Training.

The number of students admitted is equal to the number of students eligible for universal secondary education in the area plus the number of students selected from high to low based on the admission results until the school's enrollment quota is reached (including the results of the capacity assessment test (if any for secondary schools with a number of students applying for admission greater than the enrollment quota).

Yen Thanh district has also made a plan for admission to grades 1 and 6 for the 2023-2024 school year, and plans to complete the admission process by August 15. This year, Yen Thanh district requires all primary and secondary schools in the area to mobilize 100% of students of school age to enter grade 1 and students who have completed primary school to enter grade 6. In case of permanent residence outside the district, it must have the consent of the Department of Education and Training, primary school; secondary school to enroll students.

For preschools, the district requires schools to base on the development plan for the 2023-2024 school year to do a good job of investigating and reviewing, especially children studying outside the school district, to develop a suitable enrollment plan, close to the actual situation. The school principal must be responsible if children exceed the enrollment quota and do not ensure their safety. During the enrollment process, priority is given to public school enrollment for 5-year-old children, children of policy families, and children of workers working in industrial parks with difficult circumstances.

Previously, according to the instructions of the Department of Education and Training, the enrollment of the first grade classes must be completed before August 15. During the implementation process, localities must ensure the criteria, which are to ensure the implementation of the task of universalizing education in the area; Ensure the scale of schools, classes, and students according to the development plan approved by the Department of Education and Training; Ensure the enrollment of disabled students who need to study at secondary schools in the area; Ensure compliance with regulations for enrollment in secondary schools for ethnic minorities.

Secondary school enrollment surges in 2023 enrollment season

From August 4 to 6, all kindergartens, primary schools, and secondary schools in Vinh city will conduct enrollment for the first level. Unlike other localities in the province, this year, Vinh city conducts enrollment online at the address nghean.tsdc.vnedu.vn. During the implementation process, schools will arrange teachers and computer rooms so that parents who have difficulties can receive online support at the school.

According to the city's plan, this year the city will ensure the rate of mobilizing children to preschool education facilities of all ages (striving to reach 45% of nursery-age children and 97% of kindergarten-age children); maintain 100% of 5-year-old children going to school and being able to study semi-boarding; 100% of 6-year-old children who are healthy enough to enter grade 1; 100% of students completing primary school will be able to enter grade 6.

The city will also continue to effectively implement the teaching of Foreign Languages and Information Technology according to the 2018 general education program; effectively implement enhancement programs (English, STEM, life skills, etc.). Previously, enrollment in advanced schools was completed in July. Students in the area with advanced schools, if their parents do not register, can register in any other public school according to their wishes. In the case of homeless students, orphans or students who come to reside in the area with their parents from other localities, students transferred from other provinces (children of workers, poor families) who are not eligible for universal education, the city requires schools to consider and create favorable conditions to ensure the right to study of students.

This year, schools in Vinh city continue to use the "classification" function of the primary admission software to assign classes for first and sixth graders. At the same time, schools organize for teachers to draw lots for homeroom classes.

Currently preparing for theadmissionThe first level has been completed. However, according to Ms. Ngo Thi Nguyet - Deputy Head of the Department of Education and Training of Vinh City: This year, the first level enrollment has many difficulties when the whole city increased 78 classes, of which 73 classes are at the secondary level with more than 3,100 students. Because the number of students increased dramatically, the class size increased, so 5 schools changed their rank from 2nd to 1st, namely Quan Bau Secondary School, Hung Binh Secondary School, Trung Do Secondary School, Nguyen Truong To Secondary School and Nghi Phu Secondary School. For primary school, this year Vinh City reduced 15 classes compared to the previous school year.

This reality also occurs in many other localities such as Dien Chau, where the number of secondary school students increased by 30 classes, and Yen Thanh district, where the number of secondary school students increased by 38 classes. Previously, according to initial statistics from the Department of Education and Training for the 2023-2024 school year, the whole province had 232,782 secondary school students, an increase of about 26,081 students compared to the previous school year. Meanwhile, the number of high school students only increased slightly and the number of primary school students did not increase much compared to previous school years.
