Today, Vinh city begins primary school enrollment with more than 15,000 students.
The primary school admission in Vinh city is implemented online to facilitate parents and students. In parallel, the city also has preferential policies for some special subjects.
From today, August 1, to August 4, Vinh city begins enrollment for kindergarten, grade 1 - primary school and grade 6 - secondary school.
In particular, for preschool level, the target students are children of the appropriate age group and class of the school. Schools base on the list of universal subjects of wards and communes in the area (survey data of September 2023) to recruit students.
For grade 1, the admission target is 6-year-old children (born in 2018) on the list of universal education targets of the ward or commune. Other cases are implemented according to the regulations of the Primary School Charter.

For grade 6, schools recruit 11-year-old students (born in 2013) who have completed primary school and are on the list of universal education beneficiaries of the ward or commune. Other cases are implemented according to the regulations of the Charter of secondary schools and general schools with multiple levels.
According to Vinh city's guidelines, non-public schools conduct enrollment throughout the city. In cases of homeless students, orphans, or students whose parents come to reside in the area from other localities, or students who move back from other provinces (children of workers or poor families) who are not eligible for universal education, the school must consider and create favorable conditions to ensure the students' right to study.
This year, the city continues to enroll students online. After the enrollment results are available, schools use the “classification” function of the primary enrollment software to assign classes to first and sixth graders.
After having a plan to arrange teachers for each grade, the school will organize teachers to draw lots for the homeroom class. The plan to assign homeroom teachers will be included in the Enrollment Plan, publicly posted, and widely disseminated to teachers and parents.
Previously, according to the synthesis of the Vinh City Department of Education and Training, this year, the whole city has 7,384 students entering grade 1 with 204 classes, a decrease of nearly 1,000 students compared to the previous school year. For grade 6, the city has 8,037 students eligible for universal education, with 183 classes, a decrease of 1,000 students compared to the previous school year. At the preschool level, in addition to public schools enrolling according to regulations, parents can register for non-public schools. This school year, the whole city is expected to have more than 67,000 students at all levels.
Due to the city's unique characteristics, in addition to enrolling students in the area according to the universal target, primary school students in Le Mao ward, secondary school students in Truong Thi ward and Hung Phuc ward (areas where the advanced school model is implemented), parents can register their children to enroll in any other school in the area according to their personal wishes. Through initial understanding, the number of students not registered for the advanced school model in the area is quite large with hundreds of students.
