Mai Kim Thuy is one of the leading female vovinam boxers in Vietnam. She was the world champion in 2013 held in France. At the 27th SEA Games in Myanmar, Kim Thuy also won three silver medals.

The National Vovinam Strong Team Championship attracted nearly 350 coaches and 292 athletes (106 female) from 26 units nationwide. The athletes will compete in 42 sets of medals including 22 combat weight categories (12 male, 10 female) and 20 forms.
