The changing weather, erratic rain and sunshine, combined with a polluted environment and lots of dust can easily cause us to get rhinitis.

Below are some traditional and folk methods according to the instructions of physician Nhu Ta to treat rhinitis caused by the weather.

- If you have a stuffy nose or rhinitis, you can use the following ingredients: 50 grams of onion and 50 grams of fresh ginger. Crush both and add two tablespoons of vinegar, mix well, then put them in a bowl or pot of very hot water to steam your nose and throat. Inhale deeply the steam rising from the water, letting it go into your nose and mouth.

- Take 30 grams of chive seeds and 30 grams of the medicinal herb Achyranthes aspera, crush them, mix them together and put them in a bowl of hot water to steam. The steaming method is the same as above.

- Use the following ingredients: 5 grams of mint, 5 grams of angelica, 10 grams of Xanthium fruit, 10 grams of Chinese clematis flower, 3 fresh onions and 5 grams of tea leaves. Put the ingredients in a pot, boil with half a liter of water, and drink during the day.

- Take a little fresh pigweed (some people call it stinking grass), wash it, crush it and squeeze out the juice to drop into the nose, 3 times a day.

- In some cases of allergic rhinitis due to the weather, with a lot of runny nose, you can use fresh squash peel, luffa vine (take the part near the base), and coix seed (50 grams of each), boil with 2 liters of water to drink during the day.

- When suffering from rhinitis due to erratic weather, you can use a little sliced fresh ginger, along with 20 grams of washed perilla leaves, boil both with half a liter of water (or you can use boiling water to steep), and use the water during the day.

- Boil half a liter of coconut oil, then add 100 grams of Cassia seed (a medicinal herb) and continue cooking until the seeds start to smoke. Then remove the Cassia seed and drain the oil, then put it in a sealed jar to save for later use. Every time you steam, take a few of the seeds mentioned above and put them in a charcoal container until the seeds start to smoke. Then use half a piece of hard paper to roll it into a funnel shape, place one end of the funnel on the container containing the Cassia seed, and place the other end on your nose to steam into your nose, inhale slowly. Do this twice a day.
