How to register an account to receive social security money via VNeID

The government provides social security accounts with VNeID for people nationwide.

Social security is a system of public policies and measures aimed at ensuring basic living conditions such as employment, income, health care, education and other social benefits. It is considered a pillar to protect people from risks, while improving the quality of life and promoting social equity.

Pursuant to Resolution No. 11/NQ-CP dated January 9, 2024 at the Government Conference with localities and the regular Government meeting in December 2023, the Government assigned the Ministry of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs (now the Ministry of Home Affairs) to preside over and coordinate with the Ministry of Public Security, the State Bank of Vietnam, the Vietnam Bank for Social Policies and relevant units to research and develop a plan to issue social security accounts for all people.

This account will be directly linked to the personal identification number on the VNeID application (from version 2.1.3 onwards). Such integration helps people quickly access subsidy policies, insurance support, health care and many other social services.

When social security accounts are deployed, people will receive subsidies and support from the State online, transparently and minimizing cumbersome administrative procedures. Linking accounts to VNeID also helps connect population data, ensuring publicity, clarity and limiting fraud in the payment process.

This policy is considered an important step in the digital transformation process, modernizing Vietnam's social security system. When put into practice, each citizen only needs to use an account with an identification to carry out most procedures related to insurance, subsidies or welfare programs, thereby saving time and costs for both people and management agencies.

Instructions for accessing the VNeID app to receive social security money

Step 1:Log in to VNeID app, select item"Social security"

Step 2:Click on "Social Security Account". Then, the social security beneficiary enters his or her bank account number. The social security account is a bank account or a mobile money account.

Step 3:Users need to enter full personal information including full name, date of birth, citizen identification number, bank account number. Then, check the box "I read the purpose of sharing…” at the bottom of the page and pressContinueThe system will provide next steps until the process is complete.

Step 4:Click "Submit Information". The screen will confirm your successful social security registration request.
