How to soak and incubate "rice and meat" to have a high germination rate
First of all, we recommend that you do not use "meat rice" as seeds for the next crop. Because that will reduce the rice yield. You should buy seeds from reputable companies or rice seed agents for each crop.
If you have to use "meat rice" as seeds, you should choose rice fields that were planted in the previous crop with purebred seeds, certified seeds or technically advanced seeds with good yield and quality to use as seeds for the next crop. Harvest mixed rice plants and weedy rice at least twice before harvesting, when the panicles are large and the rice has red tails. Clean the drying yard, threshing and threshing tools, and store them to avoid mechanical contamination during harvesting.
Choose sunny days to harvest rice seeds. When the rice is harvested, it must be threshed immediately, winnowed, and straw and empty grains removed. If it is sunny, it must be dried immediately. If it rains suddenly, the rice must be spread in thin layers, avoiding piling the rice into high piles, which can reduce the germination capacity of the seeds.
With short-term rice varieties, the growing period in the Northern provinces is about 90-120 days such as: CN 2, KD 18; RVT; AIT 77... When the season has come, requiring immediate seeds, farmers can harvest the red-tailed ripe rice without drying it, but soak it immediately in a pond or lake for 72 hours (3 days and 3 nights).
If you do not soak the seeds in ponds, rivers, or lakes but have to soak them in pots, barrels, jars, or pots, you need to change the water regularly every 4 to 6 hours, let the water cover the rice at least 20cm, leave in a cool place, then rinse off the sour water and incubate normally, the germination rate will be over 70%.
When the season allows, you need to dry it in 3-4 strong sunny days, then spread the rice overnight on the floor, soak it for 72 hours in clean water to get a high germination rate of over 75%.
You can also use Lam Thao superphosphate dissolved in water at a concentration of 5-10% or Lupain preparation, soak the rice seeds for 12-24 hours, then continue to soak for 36-48 hours with clean water to further increase the germination rate of the seeds for the next crop, reaching over 80%.
If possible, it is best to use a nitric acid solution HNO3 with a concentration of 0.2-0.3%, soak for 24 hours, then soak for another 36-48 hours with clean water, both give good results for newly harvested rice that has not been dried or has been dried until crispy, the germination rate is > 85%. When soaking rice with acid, use containers made of ceramic, porcelain or plastic, do not use metal because HNO3 is a strong acid that can easily puncture the container.
The method is to dilute HNO3 acid, slowly pour the amount of HNO3 acid into the amount of water needed to mix, if poured back the acid will have an exothermic reaction and splash, burning the person handling it.
Note: With rice that is not dried thoroughly, the germination rate is very low even if the above measures are applied.
