How to identify chickens, geese, and ducks that have eaten the substance Vang O

Experts advise that when buying ready-to-eat poultry, you should choose birds that are light yellow in color, but have dark yellow wings, breast, back, and yellow fat.

Chicken, goose, and duck meat are very popular in family meals, but recently the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development discovered that the substance Vang O was mixed into animal feed to create an attractive yellow skin color for poultry, causing confusion and worry among consumers.

Yellow chicken skin, dark red eggs thanks to Golden O

According to Dr. Nguyen Duy Thinh, Institute of Biotechnology and Food Technology, VAT Yallow is a chemical used to dye fabrics and make lime for wall painting in construction. If VAT Yallow is mixed into chicken feed, it will make chicken meat, fish, and poultry eggs look more attractive, but eating this substance will accumulate and in the long run will cause cancer... especially it can have a very negative impact on the domestic poultry industry.

Mr. Nguyen Xuan Duong, Deputy Director of the Department of Animal Husbandry (Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development), said that in the process of raising chickens, free-range households use the substance Vang O to mix into chicken feed, causing them to have a beautiful yellow skin color, leg skin, and especially the egg yolk. The reason for the problem of raising chickens with Vang O chemicals, dyeing chicken skin yellow is because Vietnamese people have the habit of liking chickens and eggs with a beautiful yellow color. To meet the demand, some farmers have mixed this substance into animal feed, stimulating poultry to eat it, giving them a beautiful, eye-catching yellow skin color, making it easier to sell.

Poultry fed with yellow dyes does not increase the nutritional value of the meat, but also causes dangerous diseases. Specifically, allergies, poisoning, affects the liver, nervous system and kidneys, and can cause cancer in the long term. Children who absorb too much of this substance can suffer from irritation, hyperactivity, absent-mindedness, and lack of concentration.

Many people believe that buying live chickens to raise in the garden or in cages and then feeding them every half month is to help the chickens eliminate toxins and antibiotics in their bodies.

But according to Dr. Nguyen Duy Thinh, when an animal eats food containing banned chemicals, it cannot digest it, nor can it eliminate them, and they accumulate in the meat and internal organs of poultry. Especially in egg yolks. Therefore, buying chickens and raising them for another half month or a month still cannot eliminate those substances from the poultry that has eaten them.

How to identify clean poultry

According to Dr. Nguyen Duy Thinh, consumers need to change the habit of choosing chicken based on color, but choose foods that are good for health. Chicken does not necessarily have to be yellow, but clean chicken is chicken that does not have the smell of antibiotics or bad odors. Chicken skin is naturally bright yellow, ivory white, and when touched, the color does not stick to the hands.

Mr. Nguyen Xuan Duong also said that people should not be too concerned about color perception, when seeing chicken skin with an unusual yellow color, they should not buy it. Choose chicken with a brand name, clear origin... Encourage buying chicken in supermarkets, buying chicken at trusted stores, with contracts to choose. With ready-made chicken, choose those with quarantine stamps from veterinary agencies.

Experts advise that when buying ready-to-eat poultry, you should choose one that is light yellow, but has dark yellow wings, breast, back, and yellow fat. The meat looks fresh, has no antibiotic smell or bad smell. The skin has no blood clots or bruises. You should choose live poultry, slaughtered on the spot to buy fresh, delicious poultry. There is a very easy way for consumers to distinguish chickens, geese, and ducks that have been dyed with toxic colors: their skin has a beautiful and even golden yellow color, but the fat is white (because the inside of these poultry does not change color) or you can test for chemical dyeing by: Squeeze a little lemon juice or a little salt water into it, if the chicken skin is dyed, it will change color.

Identify pork with chemicals

Pigs are less likely to be fed with food mixed with Yellow O because there is no place to create color like chickens. However, pigs can be fed with growth-promoting, super-lean feed, injected with chemicals, which is harmful to people who eat them. If acute, they can have diarrhea. Eating for a certain period of time can cause poisoning, headaches, tremors, nausea, rapid heart rate, cardiovascular disease, blood pressure, digestive disorders, etc.

Choose to buy pork:

- Choose bright pink pork, white fat, white skin.

Do not choose:

- The pork has an unusual bright red color, bright and shiny.

- Pork has a clearly separated lean and fat area, with yellow liquid oozing out, then it is super lean meat.

- When cooking, it releases a lot of water, loses meat, and smells bad (not fragrant) - should not be eaten.

- You should not buy thin, loose layer of fat under the skin of pork because chemicals make the layer of super lean pork fat very thin, sometimes less than 1cm thick (normal pork fat is 1.5 - 2cm thick).

- If the meat is soft and cannot stand upright on the table, it is likely contaminated with growth hormones and should not be eaten.

People are encouraged to buy pork at supermarkets that have been inspected and stamped as safe by the agency./.
