The process for issuing traffic fines remotely is as follows:

Step 1: Traffic police detect violations through an automated monitoring system (cameras and speedometers).

Step 2: After extracting the violation cases, the traffic police proceed to verify and look up information about the violating vehicle and its owner. Next, they send a notification by express mail (via post office) to the vehicle owner, inviting them to the traffic police station where the violation was detected to resolve the matter.

Step 3: Traffic police coordinate with the vehicle owner to resolve the violation. Update the processing results and close the file.

On the website of the Vietnam Registering and Inspection Department, people can look up information about motor vehicles such as: general information (chassis number, engine number), technical specifications, registration information, road toll payment information, and notifications from relevant authorities regarding the vehicle – including traffic fines (if any).

Step 1Access the website of the Vietnam Registering Authority via the following link:http://www.vr.org.vn/.

Step 2:On the homepage, on the right side there is a DATA SEARCH section; click on the Motor Vehicles section for vehicle owners.

Step 3Enter all the required information to perform the search.

In the "Registration Plate" field, enter the vehicle's license plate information. For vehicles using 5-digit plates (white plates), add the letter "T" at the end (for example: 30E54367T), and for blue plates, add the letter "X" at the end.

In the "Current Certificate Number" field, you will find a series of numbers on your vehicle inspection certificate. Enter this series of numbers. The inspection sticker is affixed to the windshield; if you don't know or remember it, you can refer to it. When entering the numbers, note that there must be a hyphen "-" between the letters and numbers (for example: KC-1506426).

In the Verification Code field, enter the exact code shown above.

Step 4After entering all the information, click Search. The results will show information about the vehicle including: General information, Technical specifications, Last inspection date, Last road usage fee payment date, and finally, Notifications from relevant authorities regarding the vehicle.

If a vehicle has received a traffic violation notice, the notice will be displayed in the "Notifications from relevant authorities regarding the vehicle" section (located at the bottom). If this section is blank, it means the vehicle has not received any traffic violations. If this section displays violation information, it means the vehicle owner has not yet paid the fine and will therefore be refused vehicle inspection.

Step 3After entering all the information, click "Search" to check the results. If the result shows "No results found," it means the vehicle has not received any traffic fines. If the vehicle has received traffic fines, the results will show detailed information about the violations.

Currently, the Departments of Transportation in many provinces and cities such as Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, and Ba Ria - Vung Tau... have implemented a system allowing citizens to check traffic violations on the department's website.

Step 2Enter all required information completely and accurately, including: Vehicle license plate number and Inspection certificate sticker number.

Step 3After entering all the information, click Search to check the results.

Check traffic violations on the app.

There are many applications available on Android and iOS platforms that help you check traffic violations, such as: Nationwide Traffic Violation Lookup, Traffic Violation Lookup, Traffic Violation Checkup, Car and Motorcycle Traffic Violation Lookup… These applications can be downloaded from the Google Play Store (for Android phones) or the Apple Store (for iOS phones).

Timeframe for notifying traffic violations.

From the time the violation is detected, within 5 working days, the competent authorities will verify the information about the offending vehicle and send a written notice requesting the vehicle owner to come to the traffic police department where the violation was detected to resolve the matter.

If the vehicle owner does not appear within 15 days of receiving the first violation notice, the authorities will send a second notice to the police station in the ward, commune, or town where the vehicle owner is registered as a permanent resident. The local police will then forward this notice to the vehicle owner, requesting them to come to the traffic police department where the violation was detected to resolve the matter.

If, after two notifications, the vehicle owner still fails to appear at the agency to resolve the violation, the Traffic Police Department will send a notification to the vehicle registration authority to add the offending vehicle to the Vehicle Inspection Management Program's warning system.
