In actual use, many mistakes cause the car battery to suddenly run out of power, making it impossible to use when needed, or costing money to replace.

Headlights and some circuits still work

On some vehicles, the headlight switch operates separately from the vehicle key, so even when the engine is turned off and the vehicle is locked, the headlight system may still be on. To fix this, the driver just needs to remember to turn the headlight switch to the "OFF" position when leaving the vehicle.

The interior lights will automatically turn off when the car is locked, however there will be cases where the system will still be on even when the car is locked.

The cause may be that the driver has turned off the engine but the gear lever has not been put in the correct position P (for automatic transmission vehicles) or N (manual transmission vehicles). Therefore, it is necessary to check the lights inside the car, under the hood when all the doors are closed, the lights inside the car must turn off after 15 - 30 seconds.

These lights are all controlled by a small switch, if the switch malfunctions it can cause the lights to stay on all the time and use up all the battery power.

Sometimes some additional equipment in the car is still working after the vehicle is turned off. For example, aroma diffusers, music devices, maps... are equipped. Or some cars have electric seat adjustment, for some reason the adjustment key is stuck, causing the motor to still work.

All of these can lead to battery drain over a short period of time.

Weather conditions

Car batteries will shorten their lifespan very quickly if they are regularly exposed to hot sunlight. Most batteries work based on the principle of chemical reactions to release energy, so high temperatures will negatively affect this process.

Therefore, if you have to park your car in the hot sun, you need a heat-insulating cover, not only to protect the battery but also to prevent fading in many other parts of the car.

If the car is flooded, the electrical wires or battery connectors will definitely be soaked in water. This is the reason why the battery will quickly run out of power and be damaged.

Car has electric leak

When the battery drains quickly, many drivers think that the battery is damaged and replace it with a new one. However, if the battery drains quickly after replacing it, it is likely that the car has an electrical leak.

More specifically, electrical leakage is a problem where a device on the vehicle continues to consume the vehicle's electrical energy, even when the owner has turned off the key. This consumption causes the vehicle to lose electricity quickly, and if not detected in time, the problem can become more and more serious.

To verify the cause of the car's power loss, the car owner can rely on specific parameters. When turning off the key, if the car's current value is less than or equal to 50mA, depending on the different types of cars, the car does not have an electric leak.

On the contrary, if the car's current value when the key is turned off has a current value greater than 50mA, the car is definitely leaking electricity. The larger the index, the higher the leakage current, the faster the car's battery will run out. To fix the car's electrical leakage, the driver needs to take the car to a professional repair center to completely fix this problem.
