During the two days of national mourning for the late Prime Minister Phan Van Khai (March 20 and 21, 2018), all offices and public places will fly flags at half-mast and all entertainment activities will be suspended.

General principles when hanging flags:

- The place where the flag is hung must be solemn, ensuring aesthetics and beauty. The flagpole must be independent, do not hang the flag on poles used for other purposes such as electric poles, antenna poles,...

- Flags must not be faded or stained. Old flags must be properly destroyed and not thrown away or used for other purposes.

- The flag is placed indoors, the length of the flagpole depends on the space of the room, but do not let the flag touch the ground.

What are the regulations on flying flags at half-mast?

According to Decree 105/ND-CP/2012, flags can only be flown at half-mast to 2/3 of the flagpole.

On the flag there is a black ribbon with a width equal to 1/10 of the width of the national flag, and a minimum length equal to 1/2 of the length of the national flag.

When flying the flag at half-mast, use a mourning ribbon to tie it so it doesn't fly.
