The root of solidarity
(Baonghean) - President Ho Chi Minh once said "Unity, unity, great unity. Success, success, great success". From that, it can be inferred that unity is the fundamental cause, the source of success, of victories. Reality through the resistance wars against foreign invaders and the construction and protection of the Fatherland of our people has proven that.

Thus, the root of success and victory is national unity. So what is the root of unity? In the most general sense, unity is forming a unified block, working together for a common goal. And to stand shoulder to shoulder, first of all, we must trust each other. To trust each other, we must understand each other, let each other know everything, everything, not hide anything from each other. That means we must be frank and honest with each other; open and transparent about everything. In the family, grandparents, parents, children, husband and wife live honestly, not lie to each other.
In society, the elderly do not lie to the young, cadres do not lie to the people and vice versa. In the Party, we treat each other with the spirit of looking straight, speaking the truth with comradely love and affection for each other. Therefore, to create openness and transparency in society, the first thing is to expand and promote democracy among the people and within the Party, so that the people and Party members can fully exercise their authority and responsibility in all matters.
It is no coincidence that before passing away, President Ho Chi Minh advised: “In the Party, practicing democracy widely, regularly and seriously, self-criticism and criticism is the best way to consolidate and develop the solidarity and unity of the Party. There must be comradely love for each other”. The key to doing that is practicing democracy. Because democracy will create consensus. And consensus is a manifestation of solidarity, action for a common goal. Specifically, it is to properly and fully implement the democratic regulations at the grassroots level according to the motto “people know, people discuss, people do, people inspect”. Reality in the past has shown that wherever the democratic regulations at the grassroots level have been well promoted, there have been many successes in socio-economic development, especially in the movement to build new rural areas. And conversely, there are also many places, in many tasks and fields where people have not really known, discussed, or inspected. If they have, it is only to a limited extent. Therefore, there have been many suspicions leading to clashes and mass complaints, causing cracks in the solidarity between the Party and the people, between the government and the people, and among the people themselves.
Remember, right after the success of the August Revolution in 1945, we named the country the Democratic Republic of Vietnam... As political researchers have analyzed, the democratic element was placed first in order to send a message of broad solidarity to build a young republic, to preserve the fragile independence. Thanks to that, we were able to unite everyone, even the opposing forces; maintain the achievements of the revolution, creating the foundation for resounding victories later. Thus, it can be seen that democracy is an important factor in creating solidarity, and solidarity that wants to be strong and long-lasting must be based on the promotion of democracy.
That is why our Party and State always attach importance to “practicing democracy extensively”. The more society advances, the richer and more diverse the content of democracy becomes; the way to widely practice democracy must also be innovated to keep up with the development trend. Only in this way can we ensure the broad and sincere solidarity of everyone in society to strive together for the common goal of “a rich people, a strong country, a democratic, fair and civilized society”. Compared with the actual situation, there are still many shortcomings in “practicing democracy extensively”. On the one hand, the democratic rights of the people in all fields of activity have not been properly and fully institutionalized; on the other hand, in many places and at many times, the way to organize “practicing democracy extensively” is still heavy on form and not yet in substance.
Therefore, it is necessary to say again and again that democracy is a necessary and sufficient condition for the formation of solidarity. And to maintain solidarity, high and strong unity within the Party and among the people, the best way is to promote democracy truly and widely, everywhere, at all times. Because democracy is the root of solidarity.
