Ban on import of used mobile phones and laptops

According to Circular No. 04/2014/TT-BCT of the Ministry of Industry and Trade, from February 20, 2014, the import of some used goods such as: mobile phones, laptops... will be banned.

Accordingly, some used consumer goods prohibited from import are: mobile phones or other wireless network phones; wired telephone sets with wireless handsets; small handheld computers including minicomputers and computer-integrated electronic notebooks (PDAs); laptops; pocket recorders, not exceeding 170 mm x 100 mm x 45 mm in size; cassette tape recorders, with amplifiers and one or more speakers, operating only on external power; television cameras, digital cameras and video cameras; wristwatches, pocket watches and other personal timepieces, including stopwatches, with cases made of precious metals or metals clad with precious metals...

According to the Circular, used vehicles are also prohibited from import, such as: motorcycles (including mopeds) and bicycles with auxiliary engines, with or without sidecars; sidecar motorcycles; two-wheeled bicycles and other bicycles (including three-wheeled cargo pedicabs), without engines (except racing bicycles).

At the same time, it is also prohibited to import used medical equipment such as: electrocardiogram equipment; ultrasound; ozone therapy machines, oxygen therapy machines, inhalation machines, artificial respirators or other therapeutic respirators; breathing equipment and other gas masks, except for protective masks without mechanical parts or without replaceable filters; computer-controlled CT scanning equipment.../.
