Cambodia approves investment protocol with Vietnam
On April 3, the Cambodian National Assembly approved a protocol on the agreement on investment promotion and protection between the governments of Cambodia and Vietnam.
According to Xinhua News Agency, all 64 parliamentarians of the ruling Cambodian People's Party (CPP) unanimously approved the protocol.

Chairman of the Committee on Investment, Agriculture, Rural Development, Environment and Water Resources of the Cambodian National Assembly, Mr. Mok Mareth, said that this document is part of ensuring the confidence of investors and facilitating investment activities between the two countries. He believes that with the above protocol, Cambodia will move forward to attract investment from Vietnam and gain more trust from Vietnamese investors.
Meanwhile, Secretary General of the Council for the Development of Cambodia Sok Chenda Sophea stressed that this protocol aims to maintain, promote and facilitate investment activities between the two neighboring countries.
He confirmed that there are currently many Vietnamese investors doing business in Cambodia, and affirmed that the approved document will help retain current Vietnamese investors and attract more new ones.
According to the Association of Vietnamese Investors in Cambodia, as of 2013, Vietnam was the fifth largest investor in Cambodia, with 128 projects worth a total of more than 3 billion USD./.
