(Baonghean.vn) - On the afternoon of March 11, the first iron-hulled fishing boat in Nghe An province owned by Mr. Nguyen Quoc Trong (Tu Lap hamlet, Nghi Quang commune, Nghi Loc district) set off on its first sea voyage in a mood of joy mixed with nervousness.

This is one of 10 iron-hulled fishing boats handed over by the Vietnam Shipbuilding Industry Corporation (SBIC) to fishermen in the localities. The steel-hulled squid fishing boat Quoc Trong V018 was handed over by SBIC to Mr. Nguyen Quoc Trong, Tan Lap hamlet, Nghi Quang commune (Nghi Loc) on March 2. This is also the first iron-hulled fishing boat in Nghe An province to date. The boat is part of the Government's policy to support offshore fishermen in the project to restructure the fisheries sector towards increasing added value and sustainable development. This policy will support fishermen building iron-hulled boats to borrow 90% of the total value of the boat for 10 years, with a loan interest rate of only 3%/year. Borrowers mortgage the boat's hull and are insured. When risks occur, the State will have a special policy to support fishermen to continue to go out to sea and stick to the sea.

According to the design, Mr. Nguyen Quoc Trong's fishing boat V018 can ensure the operation of 20 crew members on board for a long time. The boat is equipped with a 650HP main engine, 4 generators, a magnetic compass, a GPS system, a fish depth meter, many radio devices... With the characteristics of a squid fishing boat, the boat is therefore installed with a fish calling light system including 140 high pressure mercury bulbs with a capacity of 1000W/1 bulb, a hydraulic winch system, a system of rigs and arm to hold the squid fishing rod. After 5 months of construction, under the supervision of the Fisheries Inspection Center under the Directorate of Fisheries, the steel-hulled squid fishing model boat V018 No. 1 has been completed according to technical requirements, ensuring quality, and suitable for the exploitation needs as well as the traditional seafaring experience of fishermen.

These are steel hull ship models deployed according to the criteria of being suitable for fishermen's habits while ensuring safety and reasonable costs. The ship was designed by Vietnam Shipbuilding Engineering Joint Stock Company according to technical standards and regulations, with some items adjusted to suit the fishing habits of fishermen in Nghi Quang commune, Nghi Loc district. When constructing the ship, SBIC applied the most advanced shipbuilding technology. The ship's details were processed according to the drawings, cut on automatic CNC machines, so the construction progress was fast and ensured high accuracy.

After 9 days of handover, the fishing boat was brought to Nghi Quang commune (Nghi Loc). On the morning of March 11, Mr. Nguyen Quoc Trong had the crew transport oil, ice, and necessary supplies to go to sea. For the first trip, Mr. Trong plans to fish in the common fishing area off the coast of Nghe An. Mr. Trong said: We have prepared 30 blocks of ice, 30 blocks of oil and plan to go for about 10 days. In the following trips, we will go to more distant fishing grounds such as Hoang Sa and Truong Sa. Using iron-hulled boats will ensure the safety of fishermen at sea as well as protect the territory of the Fatherland. Hopefully, this first trip will bring good luck and success.
