(Baonghean.vn) - For many days now, the water in Vinh River and Dao River (Nghe An) has suddenly turned pitch black, fish have died, and dead animals are floating around, emitting a strong stench.

| Dao River and Vinh River are two artificial rivers, connected to each other. It is worth mentioning that Dao River is the main water source for water plants in the area. |

| “There are so many dead fish. But no one dares to scoop them up because they are feeding the pigs for fear that the pigs will also die because the river water is so seriously polluted,” said a resident living near the Vinh River. |

| Similar to the Vinh River, in recent days, the Dao River section passing through Hung Nguyen District has also changed color and emitted a strong foul odor. Previously, on the morning of September 4, the Environmental Police discovered a sewer discharging untreated waste through a drainage ditch and then pouring it into the river section passing through Hung Dao Commune. The discharge location is only about 15 meters from the fence of a large company. However, because the sewer runs underground, the police have not yet determined whether this company is the culprit or not. |

| Currently, Nghe An Police have sent a document to the Chairman of Hung Nguyen District People's Committee requesting to provide drawings and technical documents to investigate the suspicion that the enterprise took advantage of the rain to discharge waste into Dao River. |
