Need to invest in synchronous traffic infrastructure
(Baonghean)The density of people and vehicles participating in traffic is increasing, while the traffic infrastructure has not been invested synchronously... These shortcomings have caused the complexity of traffic safety violations in our province.
According to statistics from the authorities, in the first 6 months of 2012 alone, in our province, 4,401 new cars and 44,797 motorbikes were registered, 298 cars and 22 motorbikes were moved, 639 cars and 3,089 motorbikes were transferred. Adding up those numbers, the total number of vehicles currently managed in the province is 50,947 cars and 972,118 motorbikes.
In Vinh City, in recent times, with the sharp increase in means of transport, while the technical infrastructure has not met the requirements, during rush hours on many main roads such as: Quang Trung, Le Loi, Le Hong Phong, Nguyen Van Cu, Minh Khai, Tran Phu, Hong Bang, Dinh Cong Trang, Dang Thai Than, Ngu Hai... traffic congestion often occurs, causing frustration for the people.
It is known that recently, due to tightening investment and budget revenue of the province, Vinh City has encountered difficulties, so investment capital for this field is very limited.
Dinh Cong Trang Street (Vinh City) is always congested during rush hour.
It can be seen that, in Vinh City, the planning, implementation of planning and investment in traffic infrastructure are not reasonable, most clearly shown by the delay in implementing stops, parking lots, and moving bus stations out of the city center. Or at some intersections, intersections, and roads that are not divided into lanes or flows, there is a lack of automatic monitoring equipment, traffic lights, traffic accident warning lights, lighting systems, markers, signs, etc. That inadequacy, combined with people's low awareness of compliance with the Traffic Law, increases road traffic accidents.
In recent times, all levels and functional sectors have directed traffic infrastructure management units to strengthen maintenance, repair, smooth road surface treatment, regularly inspect, detect and handle "black spots" where traffic accidents often occur, or where there is a risk of traffic accidents. With the active support of the railway industry and all levels and sectors of the province, the "black spot" on National Highway 1 crossing the railway (Nghi Lien - Vinh City) has been invested in, upgraded, installed traffic signals, widened the roadway, divided traffic flows, etc., limiting the situation of encroachment on the road, reckless overtaking when waiting for the train to pass.
The leader of the Transport sector said: “To ensure traffic safety, prevent congestion and limit traffic violations in Vinh City, the sector continues to speed up the progress of moving Vinh bus station out of the city center; re-planning and relocating markets along traffic routes, construction works that violate traffic safety corridors; implementing the planning of overpass systems, parking lots, and parking stops in the city and making traffic organization plans such as: painting stopping and parking lines; dividing lanes and traffic flows to open turns before intersections; installing road signs and place names, lane and traffic flow signs in Vinh City. At the same time, doing a good job of propaganda and educating people about traffic safety laws…”
Vinh City is a first-class urban area and the center of the North Central region, so the traffic volume of people and vehicles is increasing. Therefore, ensuring traffic order and safety needs to be paid attention to and invested appropriately, and especially this work is not only the responsibility of the authorities, but also requires the participation of the whole community and society.
