Need to speed up construction progress of Ky Son bridge

(Baonghean)- Ky Son Bridge across Nam Mo River in Muong Xen Town, built with reinforced concrete, replacing the previous degraded suspension bridge.

The bridge is designed to be 8 m wide and 91 m long, and construction began in December 2010 with a total investment of 16.8 billion VND. The construction unit is a joint venture between Phuong Dong Construction Consulting Company and Thai Son Construction Investment Trading Joint Stock Company. The bridge was scheduled to be completed and put into use in August 2011. However, during the construction period, due to technical errors in the process of launching the girders, it caused property damage and delayed the construction progress.

Faced with this situation, Ky Son district directed the construction unit to do everything possible to complete the bridge before April 30, that is, before the flood season arrives. The leader of the Department of Industry and Trade of Ky Son district said: We regularly check and remind the construction unit to do everything possible to speed up the progress to complete the project before this year's flood season. Because if the Nam Mo river rises while the bridge is not completed, the temporary bridge will be useless, so the travel of people and students will be blocked.

According to our observations, this bridge consists of 3 spans. By mid-February, the construction unit had only launched 2 spans of the bridge, and the unit is urgently fixing the problem with the remaining span, with the goal of completing it by April 30. The issue of particular concern now is that the construction unit needs to learn from technical experience, and not let unfortunate incidents happen.
