(Baonghean.vn) - Studying abroad is no longer an option for capable and well-off students. Instead, many students now choose to study abroad because this is the shortest way for them to ensure their studies but also have the opportunity to have a career and find a job soon.

This school year, Ms. Nguyen Thi Huong's son in Nghi Phu commune (Vinh city) is studying in class 11D3 at Ha Huy Tap High School. However, instead of focusing on the high school graduation exam, she decided to apply for her son to study abroad in Canada. Although she had to invest a large amount of money, more than 300 million VND, both Ms. Huong and her son have high expectations for this program and are completing the procedures to wait for the day of enrollment.

“I chose Canada because there are many job opportunities after completing my studies. For now, we will let my child complete high school and then register for a vocational college. If all goes well, after just a few years he will be able to find a job with a much higher income than in the country,” Ms. Huong shared.

After researching many study abroad programs, Ms. Huong also said that studying abroad in grade 11 is the best time, because if studying abroad in Canada from high school, students can more easily get a visa than at college and university.

The conditions for studying abroad are also easy, because families only need a reasonable level of financial proof and average academic performance. After finishing high school, students can choose to transfer to college or university in the field they love.

More importantly, when studying abroad in Canada, students do not have to worry too much about foreign languages, because most public schools now have free English support programs for international students and parents can accompany their children.

Also choosing to study abroad, Dinh Bat Tai - a former student of Nguyen Sy Sach High School (Thanh Chuong), decided to study in Korea after more than 1 year of graduating from high school. Tai said: “I have researched many study abroad programs in many countries and I think Korea is the most suitable for me, because Korean culture has many similarities with Vietnam. I chose to study at a vocational college because this program only requires 2 years of study. During the study period, we can work 20 hours a week, so we can cover part of the expenses. If studying abroad is effective, I will soon have a job and will not have to worry about unemployment after graduation.”

The trend of studying abroad has become quite popular in many schools in Nghe An in the past 5 years. It is worth mentioning that, if in the past, when talking about studying abroad, the subjects were usually students with good or excellent academic performance, with scholarships or good economic conditions, now, many students choosing to study abroad are children from rural areas with many economic difficulties. When choosing to study abroad, the students themselves also determined that the main purpose is to have the opportunity to find a job abroad after graduation.

At Doubleh Study Abroad and Labor Export Consulting Joint Stock Company (Vinh City), it is known that since the beginning of the year, the company has received many calls from parents asking for advice on their children studying abroad. At times, the number of applications was even overloaded. Students who studied abroad used to have completed grade 12; but now, many students have decided to go earlier to continue their high school studies abroad.

“Japan, Korea, Canada and Germany are the markets chosen by many parents and students. Currently, studying abroad is not too difficult and has many advantages. For example, if students study abroad in Japan, students with difficult circumstances or students from families with preferential policies will be able to borrow money to pay for tuition. Therefore, with only about 70 million VND, students can go to Japan to learn a trade. After 6 months of studying, they will switch to a work visa and have the opportunity to extend their visa and work long-term after graduation.”

Compliance

According to Ms. Ha Mai Huong, currently, the procedures for studying abroad are not too difficult. Therefore, many students choose to study abroad instead of following other paths, because the process and time to study abroad are very fast and the success rate can be up to 90%.

However, because the main purpose of international students following this path is mainly to work later, after arriving in the host country, many students do not want to extend their study time. Therefore, the situation of international students studying abroad but then voluntarily dropping out of school, working too much or running away is very likely to happen. Based on the above reality, according to Ms. Huong: "Students need to consider carefully before going to study abroad. If they do not comply with the regulations, they may encounter many pitfalls such as being arrested, deported back to their home country or later affecting the visa application process when going abroad."

Regarding compliance with study abroad regulations, recently, there was some bad news when the South Australian Department of Education and the New South Wales Department of Education (Australia) decided to temporarily stop accepting Vietnamese students from Nghe An, Ha Tinh, Quang Binh provinces and some other provinces and cities who want to study high school programs.

The move came after the states received reports that a number of Vietnamese students had gone missing. However, according to authorities, there was no information or evidence that the students were in danger and they "appeared to be actively hiding from the authorities."

The temporary suspension of international student enrollment through high school in Australia has also directly affected the sending of students to study abroad in Vietnam, including Nghe An. The case of student Nguyen Le NL (Ben Thuy ward, Vinh city) is one of them. This female student began the procedures to study abroad in Australia from July 2023. However, in early January this year, she received a notice of temporary suspension of visa issuance due to recent regulations in Australia.

Similarly, student Khanh Duy - grade 12, Nghi Loc 4 High School also planned to go.study abroadin Australia's general education program this school year. However, when the new regulations came out, I was forced to change this decision and from general education I switched to vocational study and missed many of my other plans.

The issue of Vietnamese students going abroad to study and then absconding is not only happening in Australia, but also in many other countries, including Japan and South Korea, and has greatly affected the Vietnamese community studying and working in the host country.

Moreover, it also affects students and workers in Vietnam who want to study and work abroad. From this reality, currently, in addition to propaganda work to raise awareness among students in complying with the regulations of the host country, the assessment of student records for studying abroad is also given great attention.

Many opinions from businesses operating in the field of studying abroad also believe that the fact that countries "tighten" the input for international students, in another aspect, has a positive meaning.

Thereby, to select students who have the real need to study and work abroad, making the study abroad market clean with real people, real records, limiting the situation of circumventing the law, bringing workers to work illegally.

Besides, the international students themselves from this incident will also realize that running away, working illegally and not following current regulations will lead to long-term consequences and consequences, not only for themselves but also for the country.
