Consider raising the level of support for social protection beneficiaries

The standard social allowance level for social protection beneficiaries will be raised from VND 180,000/person/month to VND 270,000/person/month.

To better care for the lives of the poor and social protection beneficiaries, in 2013, the Ministry of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs advised and proposed the Government to issue Decree 136, regulating social assistance policies for social protection beneficiaries.Accordingly, the standard social allowance level for social protection beneficiaries will be raised from 180,000 VND/person/month to 270,000 VND/person/month.

This will be the basis for determining the level of social assistance, the level of support for care and nurturing at social protection facilities, social housing, the level of financial support for care and nurturing, and other levels of social assistance.

The Decree takes effect from January 1, 2014. However, due to the country's difficult economic conditions, the implementation of subsidies for this group will be considered this year.

Currently, there are about 2.6 million people who are eligible for social protection. Each year, more than 7 billion VND is spent to support this group./.
