Need to pay attention to improving wages for Vietnamese workers working in Japan

On the morning of April 26, the delegation of the Embassy of Japan led by Ms. Chuman Ai - Second Secretary of the Embassy of Japan had a working session with the Departments of Labor - Invalids and Social Affairs; Education and Training. Accompanying them were Mr. Hayashi Yusuke - Second Secretary of the Embassy of Japan and members of the delegation.
Receiving and working with the delegation were comrades: Doan Hong Vu - Member of the Provincial Party Committee, Director of the Department of Labor - Invalids and Social Affairs; Thai Van Thanh - Director of the Department of Education and Training, representatives of relevant departments, branches and enterprises.
Improve wages for Vietnamese workers
At the meeting, Mr. Hayashi - Second Secretary, in charge of labor issues of the Embassy provided some useful information on the issue of sending workers to Japan.
Accordingly, previously, for the nursing profession, students sent to Japan for the second year had to meet the condition of having a Japanese language certificate N3. However, this policy has been lifted, as from March this year, if the receiving unit certifies that the students are continuing to make efforts to learn Japanese, they can still continue studying.
In addition, in April 2019, Japan introduced a mechanism to accept specific skilled workers in 14 fields, stipulating that those who have worked in Japan for 3 years as international students can continue to stay for another 5 years as specific skilled workers.
“Regarding this content, the Japanese Government is continuing to work with the Vietnamese Ministry of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs to reach a final agreement, and will notify localities when there are results,” said Mr. Hayashi.

Speaking at the meeting, Mr. Doan Hong Vu - Director of the Department of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs proposed a number of contents to the working delegation. Accordingly, the head of this Department suggested that the Embassy pay attention to helping Japanese enterprises improve wages for Vietnamese workers to a higher level than the current level; create conditions for Vietnamese enterprises to connect with many unions and Japanese enterprises in sending workers.
He also hoped that the Japanese Government would coordinate with Vietnam to soon complete the mechanism for receiving workers, especially special skilled workers, to extend the working period in Japan and give priority to working at Japanese enterprises in Vietnam for workers returning from Japan.
Nghe An workers working under labor contracts in Japan during the period 2013 - 2018 were 20,898 people, accounting for 6.5% of the total number of Vietnamese workers working in Japan.
On average, each year, more than 3,000 Nghe An workers go to work under contract at enterprises in Japan, with an average income of 25-35 million VND/month.
Provide accurate study abroad information
Meanwhile, Ms. Chuman Ai - Second Secretary, in charge of education of the Embassy of Japan, highly appreciated the quality of education in Nghe An, expressing her hope to provide more information and guidance for Nghe An students to learn about opportunities to study in Japan.
The Second Secretary of the Japanese Embassy affirmed that she will create the best conditions for students and young people of Vietnam in general and Nghe An in particular who cherish dreams and ambitions of going to Japan.
Ms. Chuman asked the province to help provide accurate information about studying abroad to the subjects, and regularly provide information about the activities of study abroad companies in the area to the Embassy.

Also at the meeting, representatives of Japanese organizations JASSO and IEVJ provided some useful information about studying and working in Japan. These organizations provide completely free consultation for Vietnamese students and workers who want to go to Japan.
