Nghe An participates in Vietnam - Korea Local Connection Conference
On September 17, in Seoul (South Korea), the "Vietnam - Korea Local Connection Conference" took place. The program was organized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in coordination with the Vietnamese Embassy in Korea and agencies and businesses of the two countries.
Attending the conference were representatives of the Vietnamese Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Vietnamese Embassy in Korea; leaders of Nghe An, Quang Tri, Tay Ninh provinces; the Korea-Vietnam Economic Cooperation Committee; and Korean businesses and economic associations.
The “Vietnam - Korea Local Connection Conference” is part of the 2025 Local Promotion Program in Korea and China organized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, focusing on enhancing exchanges and promoting cooperation between Vietnamese localities and Korean and Chinese partners in areas such as trade - investment, agriculture, science, technology, tourism, and culture.
The delegation of Nghe An province was led by Mr. Phung Thanh Vinh - Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee to attend the Conference. Joining the delegation were leaders of the Departments of Foreign Affairs, Industry and Trade, Agriculture and Environment, and the Management Board of the Southeast Economic Zone.
The Vietnam - Korea Local Connection Conference took place in the context of the relationship between Vietnam and Korea achieving many important developments, the two sides upgraded the relationship to "Comprehensive Strategic Partnership".
In recent times, the cooperative relationship between Nghe An province and Korea has been quite active. Nghe An province has established friendly and cooperative relations with a number of Korean localities such as Gyeonggi province, Gwangju city; regularly promotes cooperation with the Korean Embassy, KCCI, Kocham, Kostra, Koica organizations in Hanoi, thereby, people-to-people exchange activities, education, health, culture, trade and investment are increasingly expanded in many fields.
Speaking at the Conference, Comrade Phung Thanh Vinh - Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee emphasized that Nghe An has a strategic position in the North Central region, converging many potentials in industry, high-tech agriculture, trade, services and tourism. In recent years, the province has attracted a number of Korean enterprises to learn and invest, especially in the fields of textiles, electronic components, education and tourism.
Regarding FDI investment, Nghe An has attracted 23 projects from Korean enterprises, with a total investment capital of nearly 190 million USD. Regarding ODA cooperation and human resource training, the Vietnam - Korea Industrial Technical College Project in Vinh City (old) is a symbol of successful cooperation, with a total capital of more than 13 million USD, training thousands of high-quality workers, serving Vietnamese and Korean enterprises.
In particular, in labor export to Korea, from 2021 to now, Nghe An has had 5,956 workers going abroad under the Program to work in Korea under labor contracts. Currently, Nghe An is coordinating with KOICA to prepare a new project to support vocational training and job creation for young people.
The Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee stated Nghe An's commitment to creating a safe, transparent and most favorable investment environment for Korean enterprises to establish long-term relationships and develop sustainably. At the same time, he expressed his hope that the Government, relevant agencies and the Korean business community would continue to pay attention and cooperate more closely with Nghe An in many fields.
The conference took place in an open and frank atmosphere. Representatives of Vietnamese localities, including Nghe An, Quang Tri, Tay Ninh provinces, etc., introduced their potential and strengths; at the same time, highlighted the need for cooperation with Korean partners in the fields of investment, trade, culture, education, science, technology and people-to-people exchange.
At the Conference, we also heard speeches from representatives of Bae, Kim & Lee Law Firm and the Korean Economic Cooperation Committee sharing experiences, cooperation orientations and exchanging investment opportunities with Vietnam.
Nghe An province's participation in this activity is of great significance in consolidating and expanding cooperative relations with Korea. It is also an opportunity for Nghe An to directly promote its image, investment environment, and introduce the province's potential and advantages to international friends, thereby opening up more opportunities for more substantial and effective cooperation in the coming time.
