That development not only changes the way of serving in a civilized and modern way, but also meets the shopping needs of people with reasonable prices and guaranteed quality goods. However, for shopping malls and supermarkets to develop sustainably, there needs to be appropriate planning and investment.

With the strong development of the market economy, not only in newly formed urban areas have commercial centers, but also in localities in the province have had and are having many effectively operating commercial centers, such as: Plaza Quynh Luu Commercial Center; Nam Can Commercial Center (Ky Son); Phu Dien Commercial Center (Dien Chau district), Do Luong Commercial Center (Do Luong town); Vicentra Commercial Center (Vinh city)... However, the commercial centers in the districts are still limited in terms of the scale of operation of a commercial center according to standards.

Unlike shopping malls, the supermarket system in the province is very diverse, currently there are 26 general and specialized supermarkets, of which 21 are concentrated in Vinh city (there are 4 general supermarkets: Intimex 1, Intimex 2, Maximark, Big C, Metro and 16 supermarkets specializing in cars, computers, electronics, wooden furniture...). In towns and districts there are 5 supermarkets including: Dien Chau district has 2 supermarkets (including 1 general supermarket, 1 specialized), Yen Thanh district has 2 small general supermarkets. In Cua Lo town there is 1 general supermarket.



Big C Vinh Shopping Center

Although the system of shopping malls and supermarkets in Vinh city has developed, the scale is not large. According to the regulations of the Ministry of Industry and Trade, in the province, Big C supermarket meets the standard of class 1 and Intimex I, Intimex II, Maximark supermarket meets the standard of class 3. Other supermarkets in scale and business conditions only meet the type of convenience stores and self-service stores.

In order for the system of shopping malls and supermarkets in the province to develop in a diverse and large scale, meeting the standards of the Ministry of Industry and Trade, the province has made a specific plan to develop this system. It is expected that by 2015, in region I (in Ben Thuy, Vinh city; Hoang Mai town, Dien Chau town, Quan Hanh town, Cau Giat town, Nam Dan town), 1 second-class shopping mall and 5 third-class shopping malls and about 15 third-class independent supermarkets will be built (including 14 general supermarkets and 1 specialized supermarket). In region II (Lat town, Quy Hop town, Con Cuong town), 3 third-class shopping malls and 11 third-class independent supermarkets will be built (including 10 general supermarkets and 1 specialized supermarket). Along with that, the province also plans to develop a system of shopping malls and supermarkets in the period of 2016 - 2020, accordingly, in our province, many standard shopping malls and supermarkets will be invested in developing.

In order for shopping malls and supermarkets to develop as planned, the province has policies to attract investment, creating favorable conditions for domestic and foreign investors to participate in the construction and business of this type.
