Be careful not to lose money with the network operator.
The Ministry of Industry and Trade provides signs to identify value-added services that are installed on the device and have been registered for use.
On September 28, the Ministry of Industry and Trade issued warnings about violations of consumer rights related to value-added services (VAT) on mobile phones. At the same time, it also issued recommendations to customers to avoid losing money unjustly.
The Ministry of Industry and Trade said that recently, the media has reported that some network operators are "stealing" money from consumers by automatically installing, registering and renewing VAT - VAS services without consumers knowing or having difficulty controlling them. This has caused many concerns for mobile phone users.
"When consumers buy prepaid SIMs or register for postpaid SIMs at SIM dealer stores nationwide, they are not provided with complete information related to value-added services on SIMs," the Ministry of Industry and Trade stated.
Even if consumers regularly check and cancel unused VAT services, they still face many risks when network operators automatically send messages and automatically register and activate customers to try VAT services.

Registering to use a certain VAT service will usually be accompanied by a number of other VAT services that consumers do not know about. For example, when registering for 3G VAT service, consumers will automatically register for additional Data service (mobile data).
If consumers do not cancel 3G service or do not register for a 3G package service, the cost of accessing the Internet will increase very high, possibly up to hundreds or millions of dong in just a short time.
From there, the Ministry of Industry and Trade has provided signs to identify VAT services that are installed on the device and have been registered for use: Regularly receiving messages with similar content from a certain number; monthly fees increase abnormally (for postpaid mobile phones) and an unusual amount of money is deducted from the account (prepaid mobile subscribers).
“Therefore, when seeing unusual signs and suspecting that their mobile phone has been automatically activated for VAT services, consumers should contact the service providers' switchboards to check the list of VAT service applications registered on their subscriber numbers. Or compose a message with the syntax TC and send to 1228 for Viettel network; KT to 994 for Mobifone and TK to 123 for VinaPhone” - the Ministry of Industry and Trade recommends.
In addition, according to the Ministry of Industry and Trade, to avoid carriers automatically sending flash advertising messages, consumers can directly go to the SIM menu on their phones and turn off all applications that receive flash advertising messages (V-Live, Liveinfo, Viettel Plus) if they do not need to use them. After checking the services, customers compose messages to refuse the services according to the instructions.
