Canada: Nurse suspected of poisoning and killing 8 elderly people at nursing home

A nurse in Canada is facing a harsh sentence from the country's authorities for the murder of eight elderly people at a nursing home.

CNN reported that Ms. Elizabeth Tracey Mae Wettlaufer (49 years old), a former nurse at a nursing home in Ontario province, was accused of poisoning the deaths of 8 elderly people living at the center.

The victims, aged between 75 and 90, died between 2007 and 2014. The suspect, Wettlaufer, had left his job at the center for more than two years.

Local police reportedly arrested Ms. Wettlaufer after receiving a tip on September 29. Police are currently refusing to disclose the suspect’s motive for fear of affecting the trial process.

The nursing home where the incident occurred declined CNN's request for comment.
