Warning hackers hack phones to mine virtual currency
ESET warns that being abused by hackers to mine cryptocurrency can cause smartphones to run slower and heat up, or worse, cause batteries to swell and phones to break.

Have you ever encountered a situation where your smartphone suddenly runs very slow, heats up or runs out of battery quickly without any reason? This could be a sign that hackers have attacked and exploited your phone to mine virtual currency online.
Cybersecurity experts call this type of attack "Cryptojacking". To save money, hackers have found a way to hide in online games that are very popular with phone users. They will infiltrate a network provider, a personal computer or a smartphone and then insert a malicious code to serve the purpose of "mining virtual money".
For example, the popular game Bug Smasher, downloaded millions of times from Google Play, has now been exploited to mine the cryptocurrency monero, according to cybersecurity firm ESET.
