Warning about labor export fraud

The issue of state management of labor export still has many limitations and inadequacies.

On average, each year the province has 12,760 people going abroad to work, accounting for more than 1/3 of the total number of workers finding jobs each year, and Nghe An always leads the country in the number of people going abroad to work. The amount of foreign currency transferred back by workers going abroad to work each year is about 250 million USD/year. However, recently, there have been a few individuals, organizations, and businesses taking advantage of labor export to defraud workers for money. In March 2014, 3 individuals impersonated officials from the Government Inspectorate and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to defraud 43 workers in Yen Thanh, Dien Chau, Do Luong, and Tan Ky districts to work in Korea and Canada.
Another company that tricked workers into working in Norway has been investigated and cleared up by the Yen Thanh District Police and the Provincial Police. The scammers have been arrested by the police and the Provincial Police are in the process of investigating and handling criminal violations…
In Tuong Duong district, taking advantage of the preferential policy 30a, there are 111 young people who do not have a local household registration but still have their names in the household registration book to go abroad to work. Comrade Luong Thanh Hai, Secretary of Tuong Duong district Party Committee, admitted that the above situation happened because of weak commune-level management officials, specifically the chairman of the commune People's Committee and the head and deputy head of the commune police. In the near future, Tuong Duong district will discipline a series of related officials. However, the direct management agency, the Department of Labor - Invalids and Social Affairs, also needs to review its management responsibilities.

Comrade Luong Thanh Hai affirmed that without the advice or assistance of knowledgeable and responsible people, the above incident could not have been successful because there were still more than 60 students from Tuong Duong who had completed the Korean language class but could not go. “We hope that policies related to sending people to work abroad need to be more transparent and open, creating real conditions for disadvantaged children and ethnic minorities to have opportunities. The labor sector needs to coordinate more closely with sectors such as the police and local authorities to do a good job of state management of labor export,” said Comrade Luong Thanh Hai.
