Beware: Buy a gas stove and get 1 million VND as a gift and a 300,000 VND 'scholarship'
(Baonghean.vn) - Buying a gas stove will get a bonus of 1 million VND, any family with a child going to school will receive a "scholarship" of 300,000 VND. That is the trick that bad guys are taking advantage of gullibility to deceive people.
Clip of woman selling gas stoves:
On the afternoon of December 26, 2016, we received a call from a resident of Son Khe village, Chi Khe commune, Con Cuong district (Nghe An) reporting that a group of 5 people were selling gas stoves. This person said that in the past, there were several times when the villagers had bought low-quality gas stoves at high prices, so he called the reporter to find out.

A woman who claimed to be a "company" employee went to sell gas stoves in Chi Khe commune on the afternoon of December 26. |
In Son Khe village, Ms. Lu Thi Hai said that on the afternoon of December 26, a group of 3 men and 2 women came to sell gas stoves. They asked which poor households would get a discount of 1 million VND from the company if they bought the stove, and if their children were studying, they would get an additional "scholarship" of 300,000 VND. "I find it absurd because how can there be such a strange incentive?", Ms. Lu Thi Hai said.
In Son Khe village, two households bought gas stoves from people claiming to be employees of the "company" who were selling them on the street. Mr. Ha Van Thang spent 1,200,000 VND to buy a stove with a red and black International gas tank. In the box was a warranty card from a gas stove assembly facility named Tan Hung Tuyet, located at 240/109 Nguyen Van Luong Street - Ward 12 - District 6 - Ho Chi Minh City. However, the warranty card did not include information about the customer, product or warranty period. Previously, the woman claiming to be an employee of Tan Hung Tuyet Company said that there was a branch in Con Cuong district. However, according to the reporter's investigation, there is currently no business named Tan Hung Tuyet opening a branch in this area.
Mr. Ha Van Thang said that at first, the man named Hung Cuong "shouted" the price of each International brand chicken stove at 2,500,000 VND. After a while of bargaining, the seller agreed to sell it for 1.2 million VND. "I also suspected that it was a fake product, but seeing that they were selling it at a cheap price, I bought it to try and see if my trust was well-placed" - Mr. Thang said honestly.

The gas stove that Mr. Ha Van Thang, in Son Khe village, Chi Khe commune, bought for 1.2 million VND, while the same type of stove was sold for only about 600,000 VND at most. |
Ms. Lu Thi Hai expressed doubts about the actual price of these items. “If it were a genuine company product, there would be a fixed price. Who would sell it for less than half of the original advertised price?”, Ms. Hai analyzed.
According to our survey on some e-commerce sites such as vatgia.com, lazada.vn also sell gas stove products with the International brand with the highest price of only over 600,000 VND. Meanwhile, the sellers in the name of the company set the price many times higher than the information publicly offered online.

According to some people working in industrial parks in Binh Duong and Ho Chi Minh City, in these areas there are also people selling gas stoves of the same type and brand as International but for only about 300,000 VND.

The warranty card does not contain any information and is given to the buyer by the gas stove seller. |
Thus, it can be seen that customers like Mr. Ha Van Thang did not buy cheap products. And there are many gullible customers like Mr. Thang. Nghe An Newspaper once reported that in 2015, there was also a group of people who came to sell induction cookers and had tricks to cheat money from gullible people in Chi Khe commune. They sold each induction cooker for nearly 4 million VND to 2 households in Nam Dinh village with the promise that the next day they would come to install "free solar energy collectors for families" to save electricity. After that promise, the sellers "went away and never returned". This situation also happened in Tuong Duong and Ky Son districts in 2015.

The initial informant said he reported to the reporter because he suspected that people appearing in Son Khe village were selling poor quality, fake goods at high prices to the locals to make a profit. This resident hoped that the press would report so that the locals could be vigilant.
