Coast Guard will be on duty 24/7 to protect fishermen
That is the affirmation of Major General Nguyen Quang Dam, Director of the Vietnam Coast Guard (CSB).
The Major General stated: "After the incident in which a fishing boat of fishermen in Quang Ngai was shot and burned by a Chinese ship, the Vietnam Coast Guard will have more measures to support fishermen more regularly and effectively."
General Dam said that the Coast Guard will increase its 24/7 presence on remote islands and coordinate with other forces to stand behind, or even go right next to, to protect fishermen.
The Coast Guard is also increasing the presence of Coast Guard vessels at specific locations at sea, around the areas where Vietnamese fishermen live.
Coast Guard will be on duty 24/7 to support and protect fishermen.
Assessing the incident in which a Chinese ship brazenly shot and burned the cabin of a fishing boat of fishermen in Quang Ngai, Major General Nguyen Quang Dam emphasized:
'China's actions are serious, violating international law at sea and the Declaration on the Conduct of Parties in the East Sea (DOC).
According to Major General Nguyen Quang Dam, the Government and the Ministry of National Defense are investing to make the Vietnam Coast Guard stronger and more modern, both in terms of organization and equipment.
