Traffic police mobilized three canoes and dozens of officers to help a family take the deceased to the funeral.

On the afternoon of August 18, Mr. Nguyen Trung Thanh, Secretary and Chairman of the People's Committee of Dong Hai Ward, Thanh Hoa City, said that the local government had just organized forces and vehicles to carry the funeral of a deceased person due to flooding, making it impossible to organize the funeral as usual.

According to Mr. Thanh, at 1:00 p.m. the same day, three canoes of the Waterway Police Department of Thanh Hoa Province Police along with more than 20 soldiers, militiamen and ward officials were mobilized to take the funeral of Mrs. Vu Thi Luan (75 years old, living in Xuan Loc street, Dong Hai ward) to her final resting place.

Mr. Luan passed away on the night of August 17 and the family of the deceased planned to hold the funeral on August 19. However, due to the continuous rain in recent days, the Ma River is rising very quickly, causing many households in Xuan Loc Street, Dong Hai Ward to be flooded 0.5-1 m deep. Furthermore, the entire cemetery area of ​​Dong Hai Ward is submerged in water, making it impossible to bury the deceased.

The local authorities urged the family to hold a funeral on the afternoon of August 18 and received approval.

After using three canoes to carry the coffin and relatives across about 500 meters of floodwater from the house to the Ma River embankment, the deceased's body was transported by hearse to Cho Nhang cemetery (Quang Thanh ward) for burial. All funeral expenses were supported by the Thanh Hoa City People's Committee.
