Nghe An Traffic Police: Tighten and strictly manage bus operations

On the afternoon of April 26, the Department of Transport held a conference to summarize passenger transport work during Tet and the 2017 spring festival in the province.

During the 2017 Lunar New Year, passenger transport activities had many positive changes, most notably the quality of vehicles, management, operation and customer service had many improvements.
During the peak period before, during and after the Lunar New Year, the transport sector mobilized more than 25,300 trips, serving over 58,200 passengers, ensuring order and safety to satisfy people's travel needs. Bus stations have developed daily operation plans and planned to add vehicles during peak days.
In addition, passenger transport by rail and air is also focused on, increasing trips, thus best meeting people's travel needs during the recent Lunar New Year.

In addition, the Traffic Inspectorate has effectively coordinated with the Traffic Police and local Public Security to strengthen inspections and strictly handle violations of the Road Traffic Law, remove illegal bus stations, and prevent vehicles from driving in circles and picking up and dropping off passengers at the wrong places.
The conference pointed out that there are still cases of bus companies arbitrarily raising ticket prices higher than regulations and carrying more passengers than the prescribed number. “The quality of buses is not high, and violations such as speeding, overtaking, and fighting for the road still occur frequently. It is recommended that relevant departments and agencies tighten control and management of bus operations, requiring drivers to strictly comply with road traffic laws,” Mr. Nguyen Duy Dong - Deputy Head of the Road and Railway Traffic Police Department suggested.

Appreciating the transport enterprises that have proactively increased their vehicles and improved the quality of service to meet people's travel needs, Director of the Department of Transport Nguyen Hong Ky emphasized: In the coming time, the Department of Transport will continue to implement solutions to create breakthroughs and improve the quality of transport activities.
“Raising drivers’ awareness of traffic laws is very important. Therefore, the Department is researching and submitting to ministries, departments and branches to issue cards to professional drivers to improve drivers’ ethics and professionalism and better control drivers’ compliance with the journey. At the same time, business owners need to increase their responsibility when giving drivers the right to operate vehicles, to ensure safe driving journeys,” added Mr. Nguyen Hong Ky.
On this occasion, the Provincial People's Committee awarded Certificates of Merit to 4 groups and 8 individuals; the Director of the Department of Transport awarded Certificates of Merit to 9 groups and 19 individuals with outstanding achievements in serving passenger transport during the Lunar New Year of Dinh Dau in 2017.
