Thai police have identified the perpetrator of the Bangkok bombing.
“The young man in the yellow shirt is not only a suspect but he is the bomber in Bangkok,” said Thai police spokesman Prawut.
According to AP, Thai police on August 18 confirmed that the man appearing in the video recorded by a surveillance camera was the one who carried out this bombing. However, his whereabouts are still unknown.

Thai Prime Minister Prayuth Chan-ocha has said: “This bombing is the worst thing that has ever happened in Thailand.”
“There have been small bomb attacks in Thailand before, but this time the bomber took the lives of many innocent people and wanted to destroy the country’s economy and tourism,” Mr. Prayuth said.
Mr. Prayuth also pledged that the Thai government would “make every effort to investigate to find the perpetrator and force him to face justice.”
When asked if there were any clues to find the perpetrator, Mr. Prayuth affirmed: “We are investigating. The bomb has already exploded, so why are you (reporters) asking? Do you understand the word investigation? The perpetrator has not come forward to take responsibility.”
In the latest development, on August 19, the central area of Bangkok where the bombing occurred on the evening of August 17, killing at least 20 people, was reopened.
Many people gathered at the Erawan Shrine, where the bombing took place, to burn incense and pray for the victims. Many monks also joined the ceremony and chanted prayers for the souls of these people to rest in peace.
Among those attending the prayer was Nuansupha Sarunsikarin, who said: “I am very sad because many innocent people lost their lives even though they had nothing to do with this bombing.”
Meanwhile, Mr. Matthew Wheeler, Southeast Asia security analyst of the Global Crisis Group, commented: "The bombing is a new type of attack in Bangkok" and this incident, unlike previous violent incidents, was rooted in political instability or division within Thailand.
“This incident certainly does not have a political motive like previous attacks that were intended to attract public attention without causing any casualties,” said Mr. Wheeler, adding: “This incident has shaken Thai security officials”./.
