(Baonghean)On June 4, 2012, the Prime Minister signed Decision No. 25/2012/QD-TTg stipulating a number of preferential regimes for officers, professional soldiers, non-commissioned officers, soldiers, defense civil servants and defense workers of the Vietnam Coast Guard.

Accordingly, officers, professional soldiers, non-commissioned officers, soldiers, defense civil servants and defense workers of the Vietnam Coast Guard who directly participate in drills, training, and search and rescue at sea are entitled to a special allowance for going to sea at the rate of VND 150,000/person/actual day at sea.

Also according to this Decision, officers, professional soldiers, non-commissioned officers, soldiers, defense civil servants and defense workers of the Vietnam Coast Guard who have worked long-term on islands will receive monthly allowances for long-term work on islands calculated according to a coefficient compared to the general minimum wage and actual working time on remote islands.

Specifically, coast guard officers on duty on remote islands in Vietnam's seas for 5 to less than 10 years are entitled to an allowance of 0.2; from 10 to less than 15 years are entitled to an allowance of 0.3, and police officers on duty on remote islands for 15 years or more are entitled to an allowance of 0.4.

The working time used to calculate the long-term working allowance on islands for the above subjects is the total actual working time on the islands. If there is an interruption, it will be accumulated.

This Decision takes effect from August 1, 2012.
