More than 1,900 cases of traumatic brain injury were treated in three days of Tet

During the three days from the 28th to the morning of the 2nd day of Tet, the system of medical examination and treatment facilities provided emergency care for nearly 17,300 cases of traffic accidents (an increase of 113% compared to the Lunar New Year), including nearly 1,930 cases of traumatic brain injury (accounting for 11.2%), 182 cases of traumatic brain injury surgery (accounting for 1%).

The number of deaths due to traffic accidents including before hospitalization and death prognosis was 88 cases (down 1% compared to Tet At Mui).

There were 98 cases of hospitalization due to firecrackers, no deaths, double the number during Tet At Mui; 31 cases of hospitalization due to other explosives, no deaths.

The total number of medical examinations and emergency cases due to fighting was 1,970 (down 83% compared to the three days of the At Mui Lunar New Year). However, there were 10 deaths due to fighting, compared to four cases in the three days of the At Mui Lunar New Year.

As of the morning of the second day of Tet, the number of patients still being treated in hospitals was nearly 70,600 cases.

To continue ensuring regular medical examination and treatment and emergency care, Associate Professor Luong Ngoc Khue, Director of the Department of Medical Examination and Treatment Management, requested that during the remaining holidays, medical examination and treatment facilities continue to ensure treatment, patient service and security and order in medical examination and treatment facilities.

Units need to continue to be on duty at four levels: leadership duty, professional duty, Hotline information processing; administrative-logistical duty and security-self-defense duty; proactively deal with epidemics, poisonings, and mass emergency accidents that may occur; organize well the emergency care, medical examination and treatment for patients, not letting patients lack medicine, infusion fluids, blood, and preparations.

Medical facilities must strictly comply with relevant regulations and technical procedures; regularly report on emergency situations, injuries, traffic accidents, fights, and poisoning during Tet to proactively monitor unusual developments.

Previously, to ensure medical examination and treatment and emergency care during the Lunar New Year, the Ministry of Health established six inspection teams led by leaders of the Ministry of Health, along with relevant departments and divisions, to inspect the regular Tet work and extend New Year greetings to hospital staff and patients at 52 medical examination and treatment facilities and a number of medical facilities.

In addition, leaders of the People's Committees and Health Departments of provinces and cities have organized many inspection teams to visit, inspect and wish a Happy New Year to medical staff and patients at medical facilities in each locality.

The Ministry of Health and the Departments of Health of provinces and cities have assigned leaders and specialists to be on duty daily to promptly monitor unexpected developments and summarize the daily medical examination and treatment situation./.
