Online driving license issuance and renewal from December

According to the Vietnam Road Administration, from the beginning of December 2014, administrative procedure reform at level 3 will be implemented for the issuance and exchange of driving licenses.

People will only have to go to the issuing agency once to receive their driving license instead of twice as at present.

People who need to renew their driving license will register, send information and receive an appointment from the driving license renewal agency via the internet.

On the appointment day, people just need to come take a photo, do some procedures and get their driver's license. Thus, people will only have to go to the issuing agency once to receive their driver's license instead of twice as at present.

In the immediate future, this will be piloted at the Vietnam Road Administration.

Currently, the process of issuing and exchanging driving licenses has many reforms compared to before. After 5 days, people will be issued and exchanged for a new driving license instead of 15 days as before.

According to Clause 15, Article 1 of Circular No. 38/2013/TT-BGTVT dated October 24, 2013 of the Ministry of Transport, cardboard driving licenses must be converted to new PET driving licenses in 2014. New PET driving licenses are valid for 10 years from the date of issue.
