Updated image of missile frigate on its way back to Vietnam
The Dutch super-heavy transport ship Rolldock Star is continuing its journey to bring the fourth Gepard 3.9 missile frigate to Vietnam.
The maritime information website marinetraffic.com has just posted the latest information about the Dutch-flagged Rolldock Star transport ship carrying out the mission of bringing the Gepard 3.9 missile frigate of the Vietnam Navy back to the country.
The Rolldock Star's position at noon on Friday, December 15, 2017, was in West Africa, just off the coast of Mauritania. The ship followed its traditional route, passing the Cape of Good Hope into the Indian Ocean.
Images of the Rolldock Star ship when it stopped to refuel at the port of Gibraltar were posted on a number of military and maritime forums, thereby providing a clearer view of Vietnam's Gepard 3.9.

In the photo above, the Vietnamese Gepard 3.9 no longer has the temporary number 487 on the bow. It is expected that after docking at Cam Ranh port, the ship will receive the name Ngo Quyen and a new number 016.
In addition, it is easy to see that the radars and weapons equipped on the ship have been installed relatively fully, only the KT-184 launcher of the Uran-E anti-ship missile has not been installed and the Palma anti-aircraft missile - artillery system module is sealed, it is not clear whether it is to prevent weather corrosion or if it has been improved in some detail and needs to be kept secret.

The Rolldock Star transport ship began its journey to bring the fourth Gepard 3.9 of the Vietnam Navy back home at the end of November 2017. If there are no unexpected developments, it will require 1.5 months at sea.
Before docking at Cam Ranh port, the destination of the Rolldock Star ship will be Singapore port.
Here it will refuel and replenish necessary supplies before heading straight to Vietnam.
The flag-raising ceremony of our second pair of Gepard 3.9 missile frigates may be held right before the Lunar New Year, after which Vietnam will most likely place an order to build the next Gepard 3.9 with superior weapon configuration.
