Former President Donald Trump won the crucial state of Wisconsin on Wednesday, defeating Vice President Kamala Harris in a closely contested contest. The victory gave Trump 10 electoral votes.
Trump narrowly won Wisconsin in 2016, becoming the first Republican to win the state since Ronald Reagan, but lost to Joe Biden in 2020. Both Harris and Trump have focused their campaigns on the state.
The Associated Press called Trump's victory at 5:34 a.m. ET.
Harris wins Minnesota
Kamala Harris won Minnesota on the morning of November 6, extending the Democratic Party's 52-year winning streak in the state.
Ms. Harris is running against Minnesota Governor Tim Walz, who has helped pass key policies such as protecting abortion rights and supporting families. No Republican has won Minnesota since Richard Nixon in 1972, although Mr. Trump narrowly won in 2016, losing to Hillary Clinton by just 1.5 percentage points.
Mr. Trump pledged to "fight for your families and your future"
Donald Trump promised his supporters in his election night speech that he "will not rest until we have restored a strong, safe, and prosperous America."
He stressed his commitment, saying: "Every day, I will fight for you with every breath in my body."
His speech was filled with determination, demonstrating his commitment to implementing his vision for the country and continuing to protect the interests of American families and their future.
Trump, whose political career has been marked by division and conflict, told supporters at his victory party early on Friday that “it is time to come together” as a nation.
“It’s time to leave behind the divisions of the last four years,” Trump said. “It’s time to unite.”
“We have to put the country first, at least for a while,” he added. “We have to fix it.”

Harris campaign: "We still have votes to count"
Kamala Harris' campaign co-chair Cedric Richmond spoke to supporters at her Howard University watch party on Election Day evening. Richmond announced that the vice president would not speak that night, but that her campaign would not give up the fight against Donald Trump.
"We still have votes to count. There are still states that have not been called. We will continue to fight through the night to make sure that every vote is counted and every voice is heard," Richmond said. "So you won't hear from the vice president tonight, but she will tomorrow."
Richmond said Harris would return to Howard University “not just to address her supporters but to address the nation.”
The event, initially intended as a celebration of Harris' victory and hopes for a new presidential term, turned somber as her path to victory narrowed.
Kamala Harris wins in New Hampshire
Vice President Kamala Harris won New Hampshire on November 6, capturing the state's four electoral votes.
This is the seventh time in the last eight presidential elections that New Hampshire has chosen a Democratic candidate. Although Donald Trump won the state's Republican primary, he lost the presidential election.
Republican Donald Trump won Nebraska's 1st Congressional District, earning him 1 electoral vote.
Trump easily defeated Democratic candidate Kamala Harris in the district, which includes the city of Lincoln, the capital of Nebraska, and surrounding rural areas.
The 1st Congressional District has long supported Republican candidates, not choosing a Democrat since before 1992, when Nebraska began apportioning electoral votes based on election results in each district.
Georgia is the first swing state
With Trump's victory in Georgia, the state became the first to flip the 2020 election results.
In the 2020 election, Trump lost to Joe Biden in Georgia by just 11,779 votes.
Trump wins Georgia, narrowing Harris' path
Donald Trump won Georgia on Wednesday, giving the Republican Party 16 electoral votes.
Although Joe Biden won Georgia in the 2020 election, Republican candidates have won the state every year since 1996.
Trump tried to overturn his loss in Georgia in 2020, leading to legal and political battles and his impeachment in the state. Although Georgia has two Democratic senators, Trump's victory shows that the state still tends to favor Republicans.
Ms. Harris won Nebraska's 2nd Congressional District and won 1 electoral vote.
Democratic Vice President Kamala Harris won the electoral votes from Nebraska's 2nd Congressional District on November 6.
Ms Harris defeated Republican former President Donald Trump in the district that includes Omaha, Nebraska's largest city, and surrounding suburbs.
The district has been dubbed Nebraska's "blue dot" because it has supported two other Democratic candidates in the past 16 years - former President Barack Obama in 2008 and President Joe Biden in 2020.
Nebraska and Maine are the only two that apportion electoral votes based on the popular vote in individual congressional districts.
Kamala Harris wins in Hawaii
Vice President Kamala Harris won Hawaii and the state's four electoral votes on November 6.
This is the 10th consecutive presidential election that Hawaii has chosen a Democrat. The last time the state chose a Republican for president was in 1984, when Ronald Reagan won.
Hawaii is a traditionally Democratic state, with the party holding all statewide elected offices and two seats in the U.S. House of Representatives. Democrats have also long controlled more than three-quarters of the seats in both the state House and Senate.
Kamala Harris wins in Virginia
Vice President Kamala Harris won Virginia, adding 13 electoral votes to her tally. The victory marked the third time Donald Trump lost the Old Dominion state. Democrats have won Virginia in every presidential election since 2008.
Kamala Harris wins in New Mexico
Kamala Harris won New Mexico, adding five electoral votes to the Democratic Party's total.
Democratic influence in New Mexico has grown over the past two decades, with former President George W. Bush being the last Republican to win the state in 2004.
Although Harris did not make any campaign visits here, support in the state's more populous areas outperformed conservative areas, thanks to advocacy from Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham and members of the state's congressional delegation.
Kamala Harris wins in Oregon
Kamala Harris won Oregon on November 5, taking home eight electoral votes.
Oregon has an extra electoral vote this election thanks to population growth and the state's gain of a seat in Congress following the 2020 census. Since 1988, the Democratic presidential candidate has won Oregon.
Donald Trump wins in North Carolina
Former President Donald Trump has won the battleground state of North Carolina. Trump won the state's 16 electoral votes after defeating Democratic candidate Kamala Harris.
Trump also won North Carolina in 2016 and 2020, but Democrats had hoped to change that outcome by spending on Harris' campaign, campaigning and rallies.
They also tried to link Trump to struggling Republican gubernatorial candidate Mark Robinson. But Trump and running mate JD Vance traveled frequently to North Carolina during the fall campaign, pushing a protectionist economic agenda and pledging to take tough action on illegal immigration and the southern border.

Donald Trump wins Idaho, adds 4 electoral votes
Former President Donald Trump won Idaho in the November 5 election, continuing Republican dominance in the state.

Kamala Harris won California in the November 5 election, taking home 54 electoral votes, the highest number of votes in this year's presidential election.
The result is not surprising, as Harris has served in the state as a senator and attorney general. No Republican has won California since 1988, and the GOP has not been competitive in the state in a presidential election since 2000.
Democrats dominate in California, with a registration rate twice that of Republicans, and the party holds every state office, dominating Congress and representatives.
Kamala Harris Wins Maine's 1st Congressional District and Receives 1 Electoral Vote
Voters in Maine's 1st District, made up of wealthy coastal communities, awarded one electoral vote to Kamala Harris on November 5.
Maine is one of two states that share electoral votes, with two votes going to the statewide winner and one vote going to the winner of each district. Donald Trump wins Iowa
Former President Donald Trump won Iowa, receiving the state's six electoral votes.
Iowa, once considered a swing state, has now become a clear example of Trump's appeal to Republican voters and his ability to maintain his strength within the party.
Although a majority of Iowa voters supported the Democratic Party, especially Barack Obama in 2008 and 2012, they decisively chose Trump in the 2016 and 2020 elections.
After easily winning the Iowa Republican primary earlier this year, Trump has won the state in three consecutive presidential elections.
Donald Trump wins in Kansas
Former President Donald Trump won Kansas and received 6 electoral votes.
Republicans have won Kansas in every presidential election since 1964, and this is the third consecutive time Trump has won the state.

Kamala Harris wins in the District of Columbia
Vice President Kamala Harris won the District of Columbia, securing the capital's three electoral votes.
Harris' victory in DC was no surprise, as it has long been a strongly Democratic district where the administration has repeatedly clashed with Republican President Donald Trump during his time in office.
Trump has described modern Washington as a crime-ridden society, and Republican allies in Congress have threatened to strip DC of its limited autonomy.
The Associated Press declared Harris the winner at 10:20 p.m. EST.
Kamala Harris wins in Colorado
Presidential candidate Kamala Harris has won Colorado, taking the state's 10 electoral votes.
Colorado used to be a swing state between Democrats and Republicans, but over the past two decades, it has leaned Democratic. The last Republican to win Colorado’s electoral votes was George W. Bush in 2004. Since then, the state has consistently backed Democratic presidential candidates, with Joe Biden winning here in a landslide in 2020. Colorado also gained one electoral vote after the 2020 census, thanks to population growth around Denver.
The Associated Press confirmed Harris as the winner at 10:08 p.m. EST.
Abortion policy is an important issue for some voters, primarily those who support Ms. Harris.
Abortion policy remains a major deciding factor for some voters, with a majority supporting access to legal abortion in at least some circumstances. However, that support may have limits.
Florida voters on November 5 rejected a proposal to repeal one of the state’s strictest abortion bans after six weeks. The proposal needed a majority of 60 percent of voters to pass, but failed.
According to an AP VoteCast survey of more than 4,700 Florida voters, just over half said the outcome of the initiative was important to them.
Nationally, about 1 in 10 voters — including 2 in 10 Harris supporters — said they consider abortion a top issue facing the country, and it is one of the key issues Democratic presidential candidate Kamala Harris has focused on in her campaign.
Donald Trump wins in Utah
Donald Trump won the state of Utah and received 6 electoral votes on Tuesday.
Utah, a Mountain West state, is a rare Republican stronghold, although in previous elections it has supported Trump only sporadically, as his outspoken style and statements about immigrants have fallen out of favor with some voters.

The Associated Press called Trump the winner at 10:00 p.m. Eastern Time.

Mr. Biden first won a statewide election in Delaware in 1972 — 54 years ago — when he was 29 and running for the U.S. Senate.
He was then re-elected five more times. Add in two vice-presidential elections with Barack Obama, and a presidential victory in 2020, and Biden has been a household name on Delaware ballots for half a century.
