Distributing reserve rice to people affected by unusual fish deaths

The Prime Minister has just agreed with the proposal of the Ministry of Finance on the issuance of national reserve rice in emergency situations to localities; at the same time, the Ministry of Finance is assigned to preside over and coordinate with relevant agencies to proactively issue national reserve rice to support localities in famine relief for people affected by the unusual fish deaths; and report to the Prime Minister on the implementation results.

The National Reserve Department of Nghe Tinh region distributed rice to relieve hunger for people during the 2016 Lunar New Year.

From April 6 to 18, in coastal areas of the provinces of Ha Tinh, Quang Binh, Quang Tri, and Thua Thien - Hue, there were unusual deaths of farmed and wild aquatic and marine products, with unknown causes, causing economic and environmental damage, negatively affecting aquaculture, exploitation, production, and trading of aquatic and marine products, and causing panic among the people.

Immediately after the incident, relevant ministries and localities directed specialized agencies to proactively carry out inspection activities, collect samples, determine the cause, implement remedial measures, organize collection and environmental treatment, and guide and advise fishermen on appropriate solutions for raising, exploiting and consuming aquatic and seafood products to ensure stable people's lives.

The Government and the Prime Minister have issued many directive documents and directly inspected the situation to share difficulties with the people and have solutions to overcome the consequences.
