AAG fiber optic cable is about to be maintained, international Internet is affected

However, according to FPT Telecom Deputy General Director Vu Anh Tu, the maintenance will only be carried out on the Singapore - Vietnam route and on this route, FPT Telecom's traffic volume is very low so it will have almost no impact.
AAG is a 20,000 km long submarine cable system connecting Southeast Asia with the west coast of the United States, passing through the Pacific Ocean and the islands of Guam and Hawaii. There are 4 Vietnamese companies participating in investing in this project including FPT Telecom, Viettel, VNPT, SPT, out of a total of 19 companies working together to build it.
Since its launch in 2009, the cable has experienced several failures. In 2015 alone, AAG experienced three failures, most recently in June. The incident has affected many users because this is currently Vietnam’s main international Internet route.
