AAG submarine cable restored 100% traffic on October 1

The latest information from FPT Telecom Company on the evening of September 23 said that by 1:00 a.m. on October 1, the incident at the AAG (Asia Gateway Pacific) submarine cable line is expected to be completed, and 100% of transmission channels from Vietnam to international via this cable line will be restored.

According to the route, at 5pm on September 26, the ship will arrive at the location of the faulty cable. The ship will start welding the cable at 7pm on September 28 and by 1am on October 1, the cable will be completely welded.

At around 4am on October 1, the unit began burying the cable. The repair work was completed at 6am on October 3.

Thus, the repair of the problem at this submarine optical cable line will be completed 3 days earlier than the previous announcement by the AAG operator. The reason is because the weather is favorable and the Hong Kong authorities allowed the cable welding ship to enter the territorial waters early.

Previously, at 11:41 p.m. on September 15, an incident occurred that caused the AAG international submarine cable to have a cable fault on the S1I cable section, 64 km from the Hong Kong landing station. This incident affected the traffic of telecommunications service providers in Vietnam operating on this line, including FPT Telecom.

Immediately after that, the cable service operators immediately deployed many measures to support users in accessing international Internet. FPT Telecom itself used the land cable lines to forward the AAG traffic that was stopped to minimize the impact on customers.

Put into use in late 2009, AAG is a 20,000km long submarine optical cable system with a design capacity of 2 Terabit/second, directly connecting Southeast Asia with the US. In addition, AAG can also connect to Australia, India, Europe and Africa through the system's landing point. The landing point in Vietnam of this international submarine optical cable system is in Vung Tau city.
